Player's ability to go in another fraction's home world.

I think it won't be such a bad idea for a FED to visit QnoS or KDF to visit ESD. Probably these are the ways to implement with some restrictions.

1. A player can go to QnoS or KDF after paying some amount of dilithium to a ferengi. Say 480 dilithium (Human trafficking costs, right?)
2. A player can have this "facility" after every 6 hours etc. (cooldown)
3. When a player is in enemy homeworld, he has 5 minutes to hang around and beam back.
4. If he doesn't beam back in 5 minutes then NPCs will attack him with everything they got. NPCs to serve players (like merchants, traders, sellers, dealers) will not be the part of it (as it is quite frustrating when you are in the middle of the deal and NPC goes for a combat).
5. The NPCs attacking players are very tough to defeat.
6. A zone can have x number of enemy players (to avoid horde of players from enemy fraction).
7. Queuing system?
8. Only players with rank 50 or more can go to enemy fraction's homeworld.
9. "Native" players can't attack "visitor" (in order to avoid flaming on chat bar or exchange of insults. You know, human nature).
10. "Visitors" can't attack "native" players. (see point 9).

This is the initial draft of suggestions :)

Why don't we just use our current characters for our home bases?

I'd rather if we can just "enter" the planet when we get close enough, and zone into the instance like any other player. We'd be visible to any other player, might even gain aggro on some NPC ships flying around. Get close enough to the Qonos/ESD, and you can beam into the city/starbase. Spawn is randomly scattered across 3 points on the city so that defenders can't all camp the same spot (though they can camp all 3 with sufficient numbers).

And after that, the raid is on! Good luck getting through masses of players and npcs and cause absolute mayhem. Like in another game where war is crafted. :D

I fear Q'onos might be a very Fed-infested place that way. Not to mention newbies being beaten up by Level 50 Klingons in ESD.

I think if we want more open PvP, we should just add some open PvP zones with NPC's from the opposing faction... sort of like Ker'rat and Otha, but with the "Borg" being Fed or Klingon NPC's instead.

Na, from experience I can tell that once the novelty wears off things will go back to normal. The chaos at patch day will be worth every tear.

Would be nice to see something implemented, fight now Federation / Marauder are just titles.

Federation Diplomats being allowed to visit Qo'nos, and if they decided to cause trouble, well the Imperial guards would quickly make them regret it.

Klingon Raiders sneeking aboard ESD to accomplish a task without alerting security.

The only thing they would have to alter is making the guards alot stronger than the average Security Guard (possible Elite / Captain level). Have important NPCs have programming that has them return to their spawn points or respawn if killed. Presto, fun without griefing.

If we are allowed to visit other faction's homeworlds, then we should be tier 3 or tier 4 in Diplomacy or Marauding to gain access to it. I think Tier 4 would be better since it would allow us to visit their worlds while tier 3 already gives access to their space. Also, I think that there should be no combat when visiting the other faction's homeworld unless a player provokes security.

Considering these 2 factions are at 'war' with each other, how would this work?

The devs stated awhile ago that forced PvP would NOT ever happen. Allowing opposing factions to visit homebases IS forced PvP, so it isn't going to be allowed.

Besides, as much fun as it could be, there's no looting and death has no meaning so whats the point ?

Gotta watch out for those fraction's home bases and such. That three-quarters has been eyeing seven-eigth's shipyard facilities for awhile now...

Or... for even more fun. :D Maybe have simulacra of other players? Use AIs to control clones of enemy player characters. :D

Well, they could do like many other MMOs do, PvP flags. The "defenders" aren't targetable unless they either type a chat command (Or maybe add it to the character context menu, just like switching uniforms), or actively target an invader, then they get flagged for PvP. The "invaders" on the other hand, are instantly flagged for PvP.

Shhhhh, don't give them ideas. This is what STO shoulda been all along- PVP everywhere/all the time.

They could make PvP zones on maps like ESD/Qo'nos where anything goes. Let's say a Klingon in ESD. The Fed gets automatically beamed into a normal zone and can choose to go to a PvP zone with a popup message explaining the zone and a continue/back option. The KDF automatically beam into the PvP zones and can't go into normal ones. When beaming into the PvP zones/switching to them/respawing you can choose where to spawn to avoid camping. This would apply to maps like ESD, Qo'nos, DSK-7, SB39, Memory Alpha, and their space maps.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I don't think they need completely different zones, both PvP and non-PvP players can co-exist in the same zone, on the same map, same instance if the players had tags embedded in their toon (like race, sex, height, arm length, etc) that can be toggled pvp/non pvp in the ui. That way if a Fed capt is sitting outside ESD in his ship and sees a fleet of klink warships warp in he can choose to ignore them, or fight to protect the base (example scenerio).

That would work, but it kind of harshly breaks the atmosphere for the new player who just watched the F2P video, all Trekked up from it, to walk into ESD and find Klingons roaming around.

Ohh boo-hoo, broke the immersion. Maybe newbie 'all trekked-up' player should draw his phaser and call for backup.

    :D

I think it would make STO have more Trek influenced immersion, since they've made it a shooter game.

Interesting idea, but with the way things are now, I don't see this working without major problems. Seeing that some Klingon players are still able to get into ESD and tick people off. Something will go wrong.

BTW, what's an "enemy fraction"? Math rocks.
