There is an argument to be made for any number of specialties being included that currently are not included, but this one in particular sticks out. Picard would have been an archeologist or anthropologist if he had not been in Starfleet. Chakotay also had a clear interest in this branch of study. It actually seems like it's one of the things that all the series liked to focus on, mainly because it paralleled what the shows did. The shows were a study of humanity. Archeology and anthropology are studies of humanity.
An archeologist or anthropologist DOFF should be included in the game, please.
Also, just because I'm posting a suggestion, I'll post another that seems pretty obvious. There are all sorts of scientific fields covered by the DOFFs but physics is not one of them. Astrometrics is essentially mapping the stars. Gravimetric Scientists and Warp Theorists deal specifically with warp travel and the related issues. But there's no one who's just a plain old physicist? Or at least an astrophysicist?
What you are saying makes a lot of sense, and the omission is really glaring from a lore point of view. However, to make the implementation worthwhile, those new specializations would have to bring something new to the table gameplay-wise while remaining balanced against the existing doffs.
This is interesting. I hadn't thought about it. I would point to Biologists and Botanists and Research Lab Scientists and all the Civilians and say that a potential Archeologist/Anthropologist and Physicist/Astrophysicist wouldn't need to be slottable for active powers. I certainly feel that is more true with an Archeologist/Anthropologist. It doesn't seem like having those skills ever lent anything to Picard's abilities in a battle.
On the other hand, it does seem like a Physicist/Astrophysicist would grant some sort of ability. According to the Wiki, a character with the Astrophysicist trait gets +10 each to Sensors, Flow Capacitors, and Particle Generators. Since it would seem logical for a Sensors Officer to give a bonus to sensors (and they do), and since Flow Capacitors and Particle Generators are sort of split up and covered variously by many different DOFFs, it doesn't seem like adding a Physicist/Astrophysicist to this particular mix is necessary. So maybe something completely different? Like, having a Physicist/Astrophysicist on active space duty reduces the cool down time for Transwarp abilities.
I agree there are several of these missing and it would be nice to see every so often say with each season maybe one or two new ones float into the system. The one I would like to see in the works is a Zoologist.
Before everyone gets all up in arms (as they have in the past) being a zoologist can be very different from just a "biologist". In fact, if you use the excuse well we have biologists in the game so we don't need zoologists? The logic breaks down because then why do we have botanists?
Besides, who is studying George and Gracy's progency???

Did you have something in mind?
