Looking for the right fleet -- any suggestions?

Hi all. The number of fleets on STO is a bit overwhelming, and most fleets are not really up my alley. I was hoping someone could direct me to some fleets that might be a good fit.

I'm a casual player, 30ish, not terribly comfortable socializing in large groups, and for whom real life always comes first.

One of the things I especially like about STO is that the endgame content is accessible to someone like me who normally doesn't have a group of friends to team with or access to guild resources, but for all that, I'd like to experience the game content more fully and it would be nice to have company while I'm tooling around the galaxy.

I've solo'd several MMOs through to the end, and typically when you reach the maximum level, if you aren't in a guild there's nothing more you can do. This can be frustrating, as there is usually a lot more content (even a disproportionate amount of content) wrapped up in the "Endgame." I usually wait until then to join a guild(at this point I have a 50 Fed and a 50 KDF), and I've had a variety of experiences doing so, most of them not ultimately workable.

My best experience joining a guild was a tiny group on Age of Conan (I wish I could remember what they were called), not long after its release. Instead being put through boot camp about what other people had already researched and quantified about how to flawlessly manipulate the game content, we discovered the endgame content together, armed with nothing more than what the previous content had prepared us for, our wits, and our ability to work together. I realize, of course, that this experience can't be recreated -- one would be hard pressed, I think, to find a fleet on STO filled with people who didn't already know exactly how everything works (even I have already gained experience doing STFs and things), and tiny fleets don't make enough waves for many people to be aware of them in order to make the suggestion. But maybe this helps clarify what I'm looking for.

I'm a bit of a Trekkie, so I prefer Trek-themed fleets, but I'm flexible. I have been a roleplayer of some distinction (supposedly :D) in a wholly different medium, so I'm comfortable with RP fleets but not really planning to RP on STO myself. LGBT-friendliness (though not necessarily -themedness) is probably a necessity.

Any enlightment one could offer would be appreciated. :)

I don't know about LGBT-friendliness; Though in this day and age; we can only hope so:)

They are a smaller group, but they seem persistent and dedicated and slowly growing:0 maybe what your looking for:) being able to learn and discover the game with a smaller fleet. There are a few out here that are smaller and beginning as well. Quite a few larger ones too:)

    Good luck,

I would offer you a home with us. Not sure its what your looking for though? Seeing how a lot of us are at endgame already. Still, We have people moving through the ranks and a quite a few end gamers as well. Though we have discovered what works and what doesn't. We still encourage you to find your place and what works for you. If you want to check us out

other wise I will keep my eyes open: Good Luck.

I head up Risa Defense Force, an admittedly small but fun-loving group of players in STO.

We're at about 4-5 regulars (get on every day or most days of the week), and we just play the game as we please. If we can team for a Fleet Mark run, great! If not, we just enjoy each other's company as we do our own thing.

We are also a group where real life takes precedence. We mostly get on at night (Eastern time), and sporadically through the day as we find time. Some of us are college students, others have jobs.

No need to worry about LGBT acceptance as we take all players from all walks of life, both in-game and in the real world. Actually, it's never even come up in the 6 months I've been playing. I guess we're highly evolved like that, that it doesn't even come to mind when we get online. :)

We have a bit of a website, though admittedly it's a work in progress: https://sites.google.com/site/risadefenseforce/home

We're in the middle of doing some recruiting, and the webpage will be our home for news, updates, fleet rules, and fleet structure. But anyone in RDF can answer those questions for you if you're online.

If you'd like to ask more questions (or anyone reading this), PM me here or in-game at Joe@entnx00.

Enjoy the game however you see fit! :)

If you are looking for a fleet that does endgame and still has plenty of -LV50 players looking to team for missions might want to check out UFP.
Always something going on it seams, STF's, Fleet Actions, PvP or just rerunning missions to help someone level up.
If you want to learn/do STF's they have a dedicated STF group, great for teaching newer players.
Most members are pretty casual though plenty of chit-chat and humor going on in the chat from time to time.
Worth a look @ least, here is the website: http://ufplanets.com/

I have to say without a doubt that the TOS Veterans would be the best fit. We are a mature (+30) fleet where real lives come first. Since we all have families and work and board meetings we respect that this part comes first.

The best thing is we are casual and we have no rules and nothing is mandatory. We are a social fleet but there is no problem fitting in because there are so many areas that our members are involved with. We are a medium sized fleet but there are always players online and we always have (optional) fleet nights that you can join in.

Please take a look at our website at tosfleet.com or check out our recruiting thread for more information and you will see that we are all Star Trek fans and we have a lot of fun with this game and community. I have met a lot of good people here and I can say that they are very inviting and respectful of our loan wolf time.

    Greetings,

I am Rear Admiral Jureth representing Lotus Fleet. We are a group of Star Trek fans with a gaming habit on the side :)

We have members who play only STO, and some who play other MMOs as well but first and foremost we are a Star Trek fleet. We have an active forum RP group that is currently engaged in its second fleet action, and we are working hard to try and get events organized to continue progress on our Starbase.

We are always looking for those who would join us in our adventures and you can find us at lotusfleet.enjin.com. Thank you for your time!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've been out of the house the last few days (air conditioner was busted ), but I'm going to be going over these now. I appreciate the thoughtful replies.
