So I'm returning to the KDF side with my engineer gorn and wondering what would be the best ship for PVP? I will be looking for a fleet once I get settled back in, for now trying to get the perfect setup.
Ships I own, Grumba, Karfi, Varanas, Vor'cha and Vor'cha refit. And a few others. I have the bio nueral warhead, iso charge, all the gorn science vessels. What I'm wondering is good setups and which ship?
I usually stuck with my grumba (the turning radius ain't that bad) or my Kar'fi but did indulge with my science vessels too when support was needed.
Would continue playing with this engineer be fine? Or should I start a new toon? Have 3 slots open, but if I don't need to grind then why should I?
I'm not really the tanking type even though I had good setups todo so. I mostly did STFs before I took a vacation went to kerret space and found out that my grumba couldn't scratch escorts mainly MVs (oh how i love my MV.)
So restart with a tac officer or science build? I really really really like the idea of a science ships, but a lot of people said they were useless when I was playing.
So tips, tricks, pro help, saying I'm still a newb? Anything would be greatly appreciated.
As you're an engineer looking to PVP, I would personally recommend either the Kar'fi or the Vorcha Refit. You will need to look into tanking, as that's what the engineer is best at, and that's what those ships can do fairly well in the right hands. The Guramba is a nice vessel, but I personally wouldn't use it for PvP because the unique ability isn't a whole lot of use in most PvP, and the Vorcha refit provides good firepower and survivability with a manageable turn-rate.
As for builds, you could check out the threads in the PvP forum, there are 1-2 cruiser threads and probably some older threads that deal with the Kar'fi and the Vorcha Refit directly. I would specifically recommend that you look into obtaining [Acc]x2 or x3 weapons, because that's how you make sure you're actually hitting your target in PvP. Defensive values in PvP are considerably higher than in PvE, so weapons miss a lot more.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
Are power draining builds still used in pvp? They used to be a rare occurrence, but I enjoyed the build I had on my Kar'fi. Nothing like making peoples weapons into wet noodles.
