It?s interesting read about how gamer employees feel about the studio they work for. Granted everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side except VALVE. It seems that VALVE is a great place to work for.

Did not see anything about cryptic or pwe though.

Being a developer myself, must just say. It's ruthless.

The personal effort and hard work that gets put into something, and I'm taking about passion, that is sooooo easily shot down, is really a hell of a shutdown.

    Tee-hee-hee

Certainly would explain a fair bit of what we see on the consumer end of things, though.

I'd say compared to the gaming industry as a whole, Cryptic's reviews there are above average.

This is not to say that Cryptic shouldn't read those reviews and figure out how to do better; there are recurring themes in the "cons" that ought to be taken seriously.

Pros ? Interesting people to work with. Flexible hours. Good health insurance. Dog friendly office. Cool IPs to work on. Powerful and flexible game editor for content design--one of the best I've seen.

Cons ? Disorganized. Management constantly changing & constantly changing their minds. The company cares a great deal about creativity, but puts almost no value on management skills. This ends up creating extra work and plenty of false starts. Also poor on communication. Low end of the salary range.

I think it actually says a lot about Cryptic that half the time a developer leaves, he ends up coming back.

I'd say that says more about the state of the economy than it does about Cryptic (or any single company for that matter).
