Some very quirky things in The Doomsday Device...

I just finished my fourth run of the mission The Doomsday Device for fun, and there were some strange things in it. It took me a while to finish the final battle considering I kept getting killed and the DDM would go back to 100%. But since it took so long I got to see plenty of strange things:

- Wells class ships. People have been seeing them as NPCs all over the place. They use antiproton weapons.
- A luna nebula class ship named 'Wells Class' that was firing antiproton beams.
- Several Galaxy-X ships, one was named U.S.S. Risa
- U.S.S. Crazy Horse. I'm not kidding. Did one of the devs do this as a joke?
- What looked like the Gamma section of a Prometheus MVAE flew right past my camera.
- The DDM or some other ship was using transfer shield strength. I kept seeing the TSS visual around the DDM.
- A nebula class used tachyon detection grid.
- The DDM used full impulse. While I was flying around trying to get a shot into it, it rocketed off and I chased after it. We flew far, far away from the rest of the battle where it slowed down, disappeared, and reappeared back near the destroyed moon with all its health (so frustrating!).
- Some Galaxy-Xs were called 'Armitage Class Escort Carrier' and I also saw bunches of fighters and shuttles flying around ().
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

To answers many of these points - NPCs are using C-Store console parts now (MVAM, Tachyon grid etc). The off naming is whatever, I don't know what to tell you on that.

The Crazy Horse I'm unsure what the issue is with that? Wasn't there a Crazy Horse in the show canon?

Yes, there was a Crazy Horse. It was Admiral Nechayev's courier to the Enterprise around the time of TNG: Descent. Excelsior-class.

The ship names in that mission have always been mismatched with the classes of the ships. I haven't seen it in any other mission.

That full impulse thing is rubber banding. If you die and there are no other ships firing on the DDM, or just go too long without scoring a hit, it'll reset. If you're lagging when that happens, it can appear to do what you describe.

Most of the other things are just products of the buff to Federation and Klingon allied NPCs.

Wells class ships have been making appearances for a while now. I think it's a tease for future content.

    Wrong ship costume.

Dreadnoughts spawn sometimes. Nothing unusual there. "U.S.S. Risa"...lol.

U.S.S. Crazy Horse is a canon Star Trek ship; it appeared in TNG's "Descent". It was named for Chief Crazy Horse of the Oglala Sioux tribe, who resisted American takeover of his people's lands in the 1870s.

C-store ships now spawn in-game. They use their special consoles in combat.

    Must be a bug.

The Armitage Carrier is in the game now. It must have been using the wrong costume.

Psychoticvulcan already covered what I was gonna say about Crazy Horse, (a real historical figure), so my work here is already done.

I don't see why anyone would think it strange that there's a USS Crazy Horse. What is so weird about yet another ship named after a famous historical figure?

I forgot about Crazy Horse (the person) until you guys mentioned it. About the Gal-Xs, there were some name Armitage Class Escor Carrier and I saw perigrine fighters and type 8 shuttles flying around, not scorpion fighters.

P.S. the deployable scorpion fighter says consumed on use and unique - max of one per character, so does that mean I can only launch one wave and then I have to go and do the mission to get more, or can I use it over and over?

    Sorry, as a tourism professional..

If you're going to reference an important historical event in ANYONE's history, please, get it right.

It's the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

It can be done on the playable version. The NPC version of the Galaxy-X doesn't launch fighters.

If only that would be the new(fleet) galaxy-X. A hanger instead of any other stat boost or changes. Add a functional seperation module and that's one fun ship.

considering the wells class is a federation ship, it will never be a lockbox ship. the devs stated faction specific ships (fex/vulcan/andorian. klingon/orion/gorn/nausican) ships will never be in lockboxes. the only exception is the mirror universe ships since the mirror universe is technically non-faction.

only non-faction ships, like the tholian, Jem'Hadar , freighter and mirror universe ships would be in lockboxes.

I never thought about that... seems like the DDM could end up being one heck of an oopsie for Cryptic.
