Please and thank you- The ship I would really like to have!

sandyquicksandyquick Member Posts: 18 Arc User
Go ahead and post a link to the starship of your dreams people, that's what I am going to do.
I do not want to sound impolite and demanding, so let me start off by saying;

Dear (powers that be)
Please, if it were possible, I would very much like to be able to procure the following ship class for use in the star trek online game. I am well aware that the appearance would have to be adjusted for use in the year 2409 and or that some ship classes that are not "cannon" would have to be "invented' or an "experimental design" for use in the 2409 era (which brings considerable complication).
Still, This is the ship I would love to fly:
The bonaventure class
http://psiandco.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5difja
another view
http://psiandco.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5difns
a possible john eaves inturpretation?
http://psiandco.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5diftd
a 2409 defiant class varient?
http://psiandco.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5digyf
not as spartan or compact, but this ship gets the job done!
http://psiandco.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5digoz

Not mine, posted only to show STAR TREK ONLINE what I would like to see. I feel it is time for the bonaventure class starship to return. the idea I have is that after all the disasterous campaigns and losses durring various wars, starfleet needed to quickly recover it's armada of firepower any way it could. The answer lay in the very small defiant class escorts/destroyers. to make many small but obscenely powerful ships, rather than one huge vessel. however, the defiant class is too small and too "spartan" a ship class to perform tasks larger vessels would be needed to accomplish.
So they would bring the bonaventure class back... with all the latest and greatest tech.
So if a "new ship" has to include a console, how about this idea?
now, rather than trying to armor the ships or fit them with absurd shield and weapon technology for the "straigt forward" fights starfleet is normally used to- this class of vessel is designed with new "GRAVAMETRIC" reaction control thrusters that also serve another purpose. not a subspace weapon like a tyken's rift, or creating a gravity well, but a defensive application. a "spatial distortion defense" you can't hit the ship if your precisely aimed blast is bent away because of a wrinkle in space!

The Bonaventure is from the 2006 edition of the "Ships of the Line" calender, meaning Cryptic would have to obtain the rights to use it.
In case of the Vesta that took more than a year to accomplish.
Considering the Patrol escort is so very much similar to the Bonaventure

(particularly the Dervish) I'd say obtaining the rights for it would be very...redundant.

Just wish there were a 'None' option for the dorsal blades on the patrol escort. I never could figure out what the hell those were for, but more often than not, they just got in the way of the look I had in mind.

It's an awesome looking ship and would've been much better as the model for the NX-01.

Agreed, that would have made ENT much more bearable. :P:D

Same for the weird canard looking things coming out of the pylons of the Galaxy-X. Those just look silly...

I'd like to see the Chariot Class which I believe is unofficial.

The Kiaga is pretty damned cute as well.

I like the current NX-01 better, but the Bonaventure is pretty nice. Almost like a TOS-era version on the NX class.

and Sir I have some dissagrement with you. the picture on that website is nice but it is only "ONE" oddly angled view that makes the dervish look very different from what it actually is. I bought the fleet patrol escort and will show you pictures of what I mean.
    ****
Yes the blockade escort-dervish is nice. I do like the merged hull and saucer.
but I do wish I could remove the "center pylon", have a warpcore (cap/ejector port?) showing aft of the center bridge, and then have something akin to the sovreign pylons rising angled, yet vertically (when compared to all the "DROOPING" saggy bits that arent even straight across) and a very wide selection of nacceles from cruisers and science ships to choose from.

Heck, I'd even like to see it could look like if we could replace the dervish saucer with the nebula "magellan" saucer.

Maybe, I am not simply asking for a ship class- but the ability to use EVERY part in the STO ship model builder, with scaled sizes to make a kitbashed ship...

in fact, it seems like this would be the most logical way to rebuild the fictional armada strength after all of those disasterous losses: borg, dominon, breen, etc.

I agree, some of the strange "structural engineering reinforcement bulkheads" no mater how they are styled should be optional, just like the "wingy bits" on several pylon and naccele designs.

as to the chariot, it's 2409, couldn't it be a prototype or other craft pressed into service soley to help recover the fleet's strength? I definately think so. it's not like the ship yards of utopia planitia (spelling) just "quit" experimenting with new designs after the "whale" was made- aka, the odyessy.

as for the Kiaga and other very small ships. I also agree that technology behind the defiant class escort- being so compact, small, mostly automated, crew reduced to 50 or less, very spartan living quarters- using it to make an entirely new class of "micro" ships with teir 4/5/ maybe even "6", capabilities makes far more sense than trying to build only one "sleek sexy whale" designed to house 2500 crew and possibly 5 times that in "passegners".

YEs it makes sense that the klingons should have this monster. the quivalent of a klingon "DEATHSTAR".

I personally would like to see EVERY race having just as much variety of starship designs as the federation. Humans use the bradbury rules, but why should:
klingons, gorn, nausicans, orions, romulans, remans, sona, cardassians, jem'hadar, talaxians, vulcans, andorians, denobulans, bolians, bynar, etc.

after all "FIRST CONTACT" is normally reserved for what? races that develop warp or interstellar capabilities... I.e. their own ships. plenty of alien races were already quite developed technologically, and are either late comers to the federation or still not interested in joining. So there should be a near I.D.I.C. number of ship designs.

I doubt that every races first warp flight will be an *EXACT* replica of chocrane's phoenix. it would be absurd to asume so. even more so absurd to expect other races to fly enterprise replicas!

Here is my picture of the fleet blockade escort, pimpin' the omega set MK XII.
the point was to highlight the differences in the designs.

namely the drooping, sagging, sad look to the pylons and naceles.
not like the images shown in the thread opener.

I wouldn't mind having the USS Raven, even as a shuttle. It'd be about the same size as a Tal'Kyr shuttle.

I've always wanted a small scoutship (Fed) based on an escort hull/engines but more of a science-focused ship than a tactical one.

It would have superior speed and maneuverability to most science vessels, but less firepower than an escort. It's focus would be on stealth (not cloak!), evasion, and advanced ECM warfare capabilities. Tradeoffs would probably be slightly weaker hull and shields than an equivalent escort.

Basically, a ship well suited for "dirty tricks" but very "poppable" if you manage to slow it down long enough.

Not sure about a special console, if any. Something that reflects a superior sensor suite, maybe.
