Need help client won't start!

Hi everyone! I have been playing a couple of days now. but as of last night and this morning I try to log into the game I get client trying to update and then a box that says unable to establish a connection to patch server. I am new to the game and was wondering how to fix this so I can get back into the game. any help would be great thanks!

    Anybody know how to fix the launcher issue? It won't start at all and showing messages of not being able to establish a connection, yet the servers are up.

    Seems to be working fine now. I just logged into the game.

    Based on what happen to me yesterday, I have a feeling that your computer's firewall is probably causing the issue. When I tried to load the launcher yesterday my McAfee popped up and warned me that a program was attempting to connect to the internet - I have mine set to not connect, but to let me decide. This leads me to believe that Cryptic or PW has changed the routing path for the Launcher, and thus my firewall didn't recognize it as the exception I established long ago and stopped the connection.

    It's possible your Firewall is locking out your Launcher. You might need to look at creating the Launcher path as an exception in your Firewall before it will allow the Launcher to connect to the internet.

    Now it says the patch client got a message while it was in a state with no response function!

    Try restarting your computer, then make sure you Firewall is turned off - or you have the routing exception in place - and then try reloading the Launcher.

    I turned firewall off and reset computer and still nothing should I redownload the clienet and reinstall it?

    I have the same problem; an exception is in my firewall, still fails with the same error message.

    Open your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and close any gameclient exe that is currently running in the background. I've gotten that error when it hangs on "patching" a few times (even though there's no patch that I needed to download) and it may be similar to your situation.

    First try a Forced Verify. It's under Options on the Launcher. The Force Verify makes certain your program is not corrupted, and it will patch and fix something if it is corrupted.

    Also, I should add here that I had to agree to allow the Launcher to connect to the internet 3 or 4 different times during the whole process of getting through my firewall. I believe there's more then 1 patch path involved, so it could require more then 1 exception on your firewall. That's why I suggested temporarily turning off your firewall and trying that. If it works without your firewall on then it's just about getting all the exceptions in place.

    The error comes up before you get options available so that does not work (it happens when trying to update the launcher)... the problem also exists in a clean boot... and after I kill the process

    Well, yesterday my Launcher would not load until I agreed 2 or 3 times to allow it to bypass my Firewall. And even after the Launcher came up and I typed in my Username and Password, it sill closed the Launcher and required to me make 1 more exception through my Firewall before it started working normally. That's why I suggested everyone turn off their Firewall completely and try it once first. If it works, that would mean you need to get all the proper exceptions put into the Firewall.

    it sounds like this is a different problem it fails after the 2nd attempt to update the launcher ... the launcher does not come up, and i'm using the windows firewall, so I just need the exe in the exceptions list. and I get exactly the same problem with the firewall turned off...

    I'm at a loss, then. I just know that's what worked for me yesterday.

    You guys might want to post in the tech forum, and file a Support Ticket from the website. The more tickets they get the quicker they'll be willing to fix the problem.
