Civilian characters (not in formal dress the number of people who colonise distant worlds dressed for the opera is VERY small)
Aliens who are NOT in starfleet/klingon uniforms (and maybe don't actually look humanoid 99.99999999% of life in the universe isn't and not everything else is a spider)
Ability to individually arm/disarm npcs
So you can have a bar fight without phasers , an alien race that uses swords , a specific npc with a sniper rifle on top of a building shooting at a VIP etc
Control of away team size (id like to write missions for one captain and one Crewman)
From what I understand the Guardian of Forever is copyrighted so can't be used in the Foundry.
@sollvax an issue with your away team size is when people want to play a foundry mission together. What if there are three people trying to play your one captain one crewman mission.
Its not that Great a mission it would attract a crowd
the story line for the mission (work in progress) is a conference regarding the neutral zone (Romulan)
The Player captain is there to negotiate for the federation
The Romulan representative is accompanied by one (and only one ) aid
and the Klingons are providing a neutral venue and security
(won't go into the plot too much but the one officer with you is there largely to bounce ideas off of )
its a Talkie talkie not a shoot em up mission
(however it does have a little combat tossed in on the way to the conference)
I'd say that if they don't know what we want by now ? after all we have a year and a half-worth of these threads ? than they are really, really not paying attention
But in the spirit of the thread, I'll add a couple of my top wants:
A melee combat only humanoid NPC group. Sure I can reskin targs, but then they just headbutt everyone.
Also:
Tholians
Tholians
Tholians
Tholians
and oh, Tholians!
We wants them, precious!
The ability to have the player spawn on a map without an away team. It kind of takes away from the atmosphere of a few missions when you have your entire staff following you.
Woghd also puts failure options in his missions, essentially if you make a wrong choice about where to go, he putts you in an area from which you can't get back to the rest of the zone and then tells you that you've failed. You still have to exit the mission manually though.
I'd love to be able to create one of those "flyby" dialogues.
We need more explosion FX, particularly a gigantic one for space stations. Even the explosion intended for "massive" ships (ie Dreadnoughts) is pathetically small compared to, say, Starbase K7.
Objects: Earth Spacedock (old and new versions), Starbase 24 (wrecked)
I'd love to have targetable "objects" (stations, asteroids, etc).
Being able to customize mobs to a certain extent, such as replacing a weapon/ability with a similar weapon/ability (example: replacing a Fed Cruiser's phaser beams with plasma beams).
Choosing a "neutral" (or even customized?) faction symbol, and choosing our own mouse-over label for it.
Being able to make certain mobs friendly to certain other mobs, and aggressive to others. That way we could do Klingon vs. Klingon battles, or maybe a Fed vs. Cardassian alliance?
Differentiating between different Cruiser-level mobs (ex: independant Federation Cruiser, Science and Escort groups, independant Cardassian and Jem'Hadar ships, etc)
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
first it will be nice to set a NPC with the weapon in his hands, and it will be nice to have a more ships hallways and damage bridges of ships(i didn't figured how to set that yet)
What I really would like to have is more access to the player who is playing my mission. Something like:
- His race
- His BOFFS and their race
- His Commendation Points and Ranks
In addition it would be nice to assign traits to BOFFs and maybe even the player himself, similar to the traits that are on DOFFs. So we could assign a different dialog to an emotional BOFF than to a logical one.
We could also use the commendation system as some kind of skill system. So a player with high diplomacy has a bonus when trying to persuade someone while a player with a high rank in military would shoot his way through the mission.
I'd also like those Terran Empire ships back. You know, the ones that were removed for some reason with season 6. And all the ones that were never there at all, like the Odyssey.

What do you mean? A text box that appears on screeen and leaves without you needing to click on it? I think you can use reach text on go to marker objectives for that.

Yes, the text box. The "reach text" thing just triggers yellow text.

Well, I've been dabbling for a few hours so far, and things I'd like to see;
- Tholians (Ground & Space)
- The STF gear in the costume creator (For NPCs - creating custom characters)
- A randomiser (so I can create a default 'look' for a friendly/enemy mob and have the race, hair, etc randomised for each one - setting up a custom friendly/enemy squad is a painfully long process)
But, I'm sure there's other stuff the older hands will want. Once I attempt to create my first map I'll probably add to this!
A save/load option for custom costumes, as well as ALL the missing costumes for both space and ground. Why does Cryptic get to access costumes like the Exeter (for the U.S.S. Kirk), when we can't?
The following thread is dedicated to suggesting and discussing content players would want added to the Foundry in the future.
Multiple Path Storylines (Do you do X or do you Y to accomplish Z?)
Ability to Disable / Defeat NPCs without destroying / killing them.
Ability to Despawn NPCs.
Ability to Spawn Solo Killable NPCs.
Ability to configure NPC equipment (:ike no Romulans with the Thalaron, KDF using only Bat'elths, or starships NOT using their special abilities).
Some Locations having more intractive Doors.
In-Map Warping (TOS Interiors could use this).
ALL Costumes and Starships being accessible in the Library. (Including C-store and inaccessable NPC outfits and ships).
Customized Interior Maps (given Neverwinter got a nice system, this would be very welcome).
More Interior Assets to create customized maps. (For instance more wall options to do Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, and generic interiors).
Alien NPC Faction that doesn't use Federation or KDF Assets. (Have a variety of alien outfits).
Like with Season 6, ability to fight same faction races.
"Logic Puzzle" assets
Ability to Beam down without Bridge Officers (some maps could use the old reinforcement bar).
Customizable Backgrounds (instead using Presets, you can set the combination you want).
Player NPC Pathing (this way if there are maps where NPCs are always getting stuck, you can place down pathing that tells them how to get back to the player).
Maps where you can place items above / below to help organize maps.
Ability to add "Ships" in Interior Maps as Holograms, or outside Windows.
"Battles" (Animations of Ship or Ground NPCs firing weapons that are for show).
I would like the ability to have npcs continuously fire their weapons straight ahead. That way if you put two friendly groups opposite each other and have them do this animation, you could create a background battle that wouldn't end and that the player couldn't get involved with.
Oh and I'd like to be able to exit back to the mission select screen rather than have to log out every time.;
More costumes, including EV suits and STF gear.
Environmental damage.
Melee only volume effect.
Mandatory EV suit volume effect.
Lighting objects aside from Firelight FX.
Timid Creatue enemy behavior without wander.
Ability to change NPC behavior with triggers.
NPC pathing.
I had a great idea for a series of missions but they revolve around new fleet starbases so having the ability to add them in at different stages of completion would be great. I mean both internal and external maps.
Also, having as an option pre-populated ESD, DS9, Utopia Planitia, etc. maps. I don't know if it's possible but it would make it have an active feel in missions where you visit those locations for a meeting or something mid mission. I have one Utopia map in a mission I'm working on and it was a pain to populate it correctly.
Along with what I said previously, I would LOVE to have the ability to make optional objectives. Especially if they could be discovered, which would allow for bonus objectives. There would have to be some way to ensure that any authors don't abuse this to hide objectionable content, however. Perhaps via an ID that could be used by GMs to identify hidden content.
It would also be nice if some contact icons could be set to be hidden on the map window. This would allow for the creation of hidden bonus objectives that start with a contact, but it could be easily abused if combined with the above suggestion. Again, a unique ID signature for hidden objects and contacts could provide GMs with a way to find hidden content in Foundry missions.
Comments
-Find a way to reduce the map loading time.
-Include the Guardian of Forever as an NPC.
-Record your own dialogue.
-Add some other door effects.

Like when you use "Dialog prompt reached", include a "Dialog prompt failed" trigger so we can make bad things happen to people that get it wrong.
But in the spirit of the thread, I'll add a couple of my top wants:

What you can do is have the Dialogue failed branch off into another direction which will give you the option to use Dialogue Prompt Reached.
A simple example:
Dialogue Pop Up -
Klingon: What do you want!
Option A: Qapla' you are a glorious warrior!
Option B: You are a coward and your father was a coward!
Option A Branch
Qapla! Come enter my house. Continue
Option B Branch
Petaq! You will have to fight my warriors to reach me
Then tie a bunch of NPC group visible triggers to the Option B dialogue branch

1. manage size of the away team
only the captain or captain and one other member
2. ability to start the mission from your bridge
the second suggestion is not as important as the first one, but it would be nice to start a mission from you ready room.

Yeah ok, everyone wants that, but still....
Maybe as a short term substitute we could have the ability to use dialog triggers from earlier maps?
