I do like that cannon that comes with the tac Bortas, although I don't have it equipped in that video. Torpedoes are just to useful to ignore. There's this guy on here somewhere that says things like...
"LOL TORPEDOES BLOW UNLESS YOU SPEC INTO THEM WON'T BE CAUGHT DEAD LOL"
I'm not sure what that means. Anyways if you use the two piece KHG that's a nice bonus there toss in a console and you're running 4 / 2 on consoles. Not to shabby. Anyways cheers and happy killing of things Bortas Cannon style!
that setup is a hammer in stf's. especially with purple torp doffs you can get a steady stream of quants being spit out.
my engineer uses the disruptors
tac, AP
sci, phased tet dc's borg tetryon turrets aft
all with dual fore quants, purple borg torp doffs, same setup as you're planning, 2 pc KHG, 2 pc borg, only differences is i have the war cruiser. 3x energy consoles, 1 zero point. 5 eng slots neut alloy x3, rcs x2. sci slot got the borg console.

I'll probably try both 4x DHCs and a torp build. Already have the Heavy Escort with 4x DHCs
so it would be nice with some torps for a little bit of variation.
I used to have a Bortasqu set up with quad cannons and mk xii disruptor cannons but only one torp at the front.
It was great at less than 5km from target at the front but she is a big ship and slow to turn with a few blind spots so unless something is in front of you theres not much you can do, sure you can use tac patterns, evasive maneuvers etc to turn faster but in all honesty that ship is better off with beams so it can sit back as its just to big to get up close for maneuvers and as cannons are an up close and personal style weapon there really not good on that ship.
I ended up moving all my gear off that ship and onto a siege destroyer (Grumba) and it utterly kicks TRIBBLE although it is a little bit more squishy than the Bortasqu but it can out dps it in a heartbeat not to mention comparing the Auto cannon to the Javelin, other than pvp the Javelin does easy 4 times the dps of the Auto cannon.

Wrong. No really. Just wrong. If you can't point a Bortas and pull the trigger once or twice I really don't know what to say. No wait. I do.

Just wanted to add my voice to this. I have the command bortasqu and while I found I had problems with it on my sci character, in the hands of my tac character I'm finding it to be an incredible ship.
ENG: Mono mk 11, electro mk11 x2(will swap one to the borg console once I get it), RCS mk11
SCI: plasmonic leech, field generator
TAC: 3x Disruptor, 1x quantum
Borg deflector
KHG mk11 engines
KHG shield(currently reman)
3x Disr DHC, 1x quantum, all borg mk 11
4x turrets, 3 white mk8-10 and 1 borg
I seem to be having no problems using aux2id and evasive for keeping my ship pointing in the right direction, especially when used with liberal applications for reverse.

Odds are well pretty much reasoning behind why your tactical is doing more damage with this than the science officer is the only thing you really have going for damage with a sci with this setup is the damage consoles for disruptor and sensor scan. As far as tactical options with science your beta and delta patterns mesh better and primarily it is the evasive that is turning the ship and not the aux to dampeners. Although the dampeners help the way a negh var and to lesser extent the vorcha drift as well as pivot thats more beneficial to those two ships but as a dev stated when bortas launched is that it wasn't designed for torpedoes or cannons it was just allowed to have cannons although with my numerous hours of testing I ended up using a quad and a combination of either 2 single cannons and a beam or 2 beams and a single cannon the quad is just there for head on damage/to save weapons power rather than reduced damage from 4 weapons on the front fireing all the time. For the rear i ended up using 2 turrets and 2 single beams.
Not saying it doesn't work for you but in any kind of gameplay I like to keep the ship moving to keep defense up to be on offense and not having to keep myself from being on the defensive. Although its my opinion though that this can work for you if per say you have someone taking all the agro where you could just sit there without taking in any damage.

I'm sorry but I don't even really understand what you're saying. You can see actual evidence here in this very thread of a Bortas doing mean things with cannons and torpedoes. And doing it well.
So what is it you're trying to say? That you can't do it? Do you need tips on power management? How can we help?
Wrong. No really. Just wrong. If you can't point a Bortas and pull the trigger once or twice I really don't know what to say. No wait. I do.
Wrong.
You may need to re-read what I said I didn't say you can't do it I just said the Bortasqu is a large ship with not much maneuverability unless you use evasive maneuver, tac patterns etc and even then cannons need to be at close range to be effective and often its not just point and pull the trigger twice especially in such things as pvp or elite stf's.

Oh you poor thing. Wah wah wah my ships no good "unless something is in front of" it to shoot at. Really? You are SERIOUSLY saying that? Yes. Yes you are saying that.
And then you say...."there's not much you can do." Really? How about turn the effing ship?
We're talking about STF's here champ. You are SERIOUSLY going to come on here, tell me to read your post over, just to point out that you find turning in an STF to much work?
Every STF you enter, do you find yourself saying things like "OMG who put that gate there?" "OMG where are all these spawn coming from?" "OMG what do I kill?"
If so you may have other things to work through besides learning how to maneuver a ship.
Oh and pro tip bud, cannons don't become ineffective at ranges greater than 5k. They just aren't as effective as they are at closer ranges. They'll still beat beams.
And this isn't about a PVP build. If you wish to discuss PVP go start a thread.
This isn't about your relative skill level in various ships. If you wish to discuss that go start a thread. You could call it "I'm not so good in a Bortas but I'm at least so so in a Grumba"
You have anything else that needs rereading? Oh and by the way you should have read my post more clearly. I didn't remark that you claimed "It couldn't be done". All I said was that you were wrong.
And your still wrong. Cannons are excellent on a Bortas in PVE.

Peace and have a Great Day!
Lol I take it your a noob that plays the game on normal and doesn't play elite stf's.
I did say the Bortasque was great at less than 5km and said about what to use as an example of how to turn it, now I didn't go into any detail on anything else and just assumed it would be common sense but that seems to be a bit above you.
The main reason cannons are not effective on that ship is because of how cannons work, there not effective at long ranges and require a large amount of maneuverability at close range to be most effective now you can hit the target at long range but the dps will be poor.
Whats more is a Dev even said the Bortasque can have cannons but its not a ship designed for them, do you not understand what this means?
Your Bortasque build might be ok for normal AKA EASY MODE,....But its most definitely not the case for Elite stf's.
And last but not least if you still think I'm wrong PROVE IT!, I wanna see some screenshots of Bortasque at range and close up and the combat report.

Don't be stupid. If you can help it. Did you just SERIOUSLY ask for screenshots? There's a video. Watch it.
Did you just say "blah blah blah a Dev said so"...You're a funny guy.
You're still wrong. What you say just simply isn't true. Get over it. If you have a problem, solve it. Don't think other people share your fail.
It's hard to believe that you can't turn a ship. Do you suck that badly at this game?

In other words you can't prove it and your speaking out of your rear end and I can prove that simply by you disagreeing with Zeux (Who happens to be a brilliant player I might add) who already told you what a Dev said and you replied with "it doesn't make sense".
I'm sorry mate but you come across as a complete Tool not only do you think you know more than a Dev (which is just lols) but your extremely rude to other people maybe in future you might want to just simply say you disagree instead of acting like a 12yr old with "wrong wrong wrong blah blah blah"!.

Your dps is pathetic and as suspected your playing it on normal not elite,
Try doing your sitting still maneuver in an elite watch how pounded you get, you do realise not moving lowers your defense don't you? lol.....bet you don't believe me but thats ok next time in combat press "U" select your ship and its defense tab and watch the numbers move as you move.
