VA Ship Decision

I'm about 5K exp away from VA and I've been thinking about this for a while. This is the last promotion where I can get a free ship and I can't decide between these 4 ships.

Odyssey Class
Star Cruiser Class
Luna Class
Defiant Class

Obviously as a Tact-O I'd want a ship with the best tactical advantage but I like all 4 of these. I wanted to see what you guys think is the best choice both in style and gameplay.

Actually, you do get a free VA ship...

    ... as a 600 days Veteran reward.

I can confirm this. I totally forgot I had one and nearly (nearly!) bought a Defiant-R. Then when I checked out the ship in the yard I realized I had an unspent VA ship token just sitting in there, unclaimed for 200+ days.

Needless to say, I managed to avoid spending a buttload of zen on a cool Defiant.

Then again, I kind of wish now that I had bought a Multi-Vector Advanced Escort instead...:o

The Vet Reward token only allows you to choose from Galaxy R, Defiant R, or Intrepid R - just as it did prior to FTP. You cannot obtain any of the C-Store ships with a Vet Reward Token.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Technically, the "R"s are C-Store ships.

You just can't get the +1 VA ships with the token.

Like they said above. Plus the Oddy star cruiser can only be now from a tier 5 star base.

If you have the Zen points then I would get the Atrox carrier.

It mostly depends on what ship you got at RA.

I'd go with the defiant-R or MVAE(if available) as a change of pace from cruisers/sci ships if you already have a space whale. That's probably the best choice of the three anyway.

If you got an escort at RA I'd get the Oddy if it's available the Intrepid-R if it's not. Sensor analysis and subsystem targeting on a respectfully tough ship with great PVE and decent PVP potential. I think Sci boats are fun even if they aren't great at PVP.

The Galaxy-R is not getting a lot of love right now compared to the other C-store alternatives for a reason. The lack of an ensign Tac officer or Lt. Cmdr Tac officer really hurts it's offensive options and is a deal breaker in my eyes. EPTX cycling makes a third Ensign engineer not worth near as much as a third Ensign Tac or Sci slot.

The Defiant is the obvious choice as a Tac cpt but the MVAE can be a tough nut to crack if your willing to spec properly for it. Its sci slant requires a little more of a sci touch to get the most out of it. It can have outstanding loiter hpwever, hanging in fights that the Defiant has already had to withdraw from. Definitely worth considering.
