We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.20.20120812b.2

General:
  • Resolved an issue which caused the explosions from destroying Borg Devices in the tutorial to not affect nearby Borg.
  • Updated several maps to remove the overly-bloomy areas.
  • Added the TOS Bridge and TOS Ship Interior template maps to the Foundry.
  • Improved performance while in the Foundry editor.
    • Lag should be greatly reduced. Please report it if it's not.
  • Updated the Armitage to support the Type 6 material.
    • Players that have already purchased this ship will need to reclaim it from the C-store to see the change.
  • The player's head will remain visible when enabling visuals in an EV Suit.
  • Updated the rewards for the Defera Invasion Probe boss missions to give out fleet marks at the same rate as other hard missions in the Borg invasion.
    • 20 regularly and 25 during fleet hour.

Duty Officers:
  • Fleet Duty Officers:
    • The variety of Duty Officers received by opening packs has increased.
    • Fleet Duty Officers will not grant Recruitment CXP and Dilithium when dismissed.
  • Flight Deck Officers updated:
    • The buffs provided for Recall, Intercept and Escort modes no longer rapidly flicker between being active and inactive.
  • Facility 4028 Fugitives Assignment Chain:
    • Doubled the CXP rewards for completing "Return Dominion Fugitive to Facility 4028" for both Federation and KDF.

Systems:
  • The initial Crew loss from torpedo hits is no longer unresistable.
    • If you have resistance to Crew damage, you should now see a greater difference to your losses over time.
  • Updated the descriptions of several Operational Asset ships to include their unique abilities.
  • Updated Draw Fire:
    • Ranks 2 and 3 of this power are no longer far more Fragile to incoming fire than originally intended.
    • Also increased the amount of damage you can take before losing the effects.
  • Updated Melee Combat:
    • Melee weapons and attacks now have 80% bonus shield penetration, up from 50%.
    • Increased the base damage of all melee attacks.
    • Nanopulse melee weapons were given a smaller damage boost than other melee weapons.
    • Melee attacks now benefit from Weapon Proficiency, but receive a smaller bonus from Combat Specialist.
      • The maximum total bonus is still the same as before.
      • Unarmed combat still does not benefit from Weapon Proficiency.
    • Rebalanced the damage values of some specific melee attacks to help equalize the value of different melee weapon types.
  • Increased the base turn rate of the Science Vessel, Science Vessel Refit, Science Vessel Retrofit, and Fleet Science Vessel Retrofit from 14 to 15.
  • All Damage Resistance consumables that grant Shield Damage resistance now grant the correct amount of resistance.
  • Updated tooltips on several consumables that granted damage resistance.
    • They were listed as a %damage resistance and are now correctly displayed as an integer.
    • This is a text change only.
  • Updated all abilities and consumables that affect Team, not allies, specifically "Team".
    • Ground Team abilities and consumables will affect all team members: players, Bridge Officers, and Pets.
    • Space Team abilities and consumables will only affect players, no pets.
    • Previously, these Team abilities and consumables affected the 5 closest teammates, so players were often not Buffed properly.
  • Updated and clarified tooltips for Ground Armors.

UI:
  • New items received in the reward popup list on the chat window will now always appear at the bottom of the list.
  • Autocomplete is now working properly in mail and various invitation text input boxes.
  • Preview images have been added to the career selection page of the character creation UI.
  • Resolved issues with HUD UI options not remembering changes for Mouse Over selections.

Thank you for being prompt about getting the Foundry lag fixed and the TOS sets back in, I know a lot of folks will appreciate it.

[*]The player's head will remain visible when enabling visuals in an EV Suit.

Hmmm... does this mean the helmets are now transparent, or that 'enabled visuals' gives us a helmet-less version of the suit? Either way, pretty cool!

Nah, there was an issue where sometimes you would just be totally headless.

Thank you for addressing (and fixing) the mouseover HUD setting.

Looking forward to testing those melee changes.

As for the change to team buffs - does that mean it will affect the team (space: players/no pets) regardless of range?

Updated several maps to remove the overly-bloomy areas.

Is this fixing the weird white paintbrush swaths through many space maps ? The ones that slow down frame rate like mad ...

I've been trying to login to Tribble a few times over the last few days, and I've been getting "Server under maintenance" both times I tried. Both times were around 10 or 11pm PST on Thursday and Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?).

At what time do they take down the servers typically?

I am glad the first one was fixed, but the second was really a problem? So now what do I do with the unwanted ones I cannot slot into starbase projects? Sell them on the exchange? Well have the categories at least for Spce and Ground Warfare specialists been added to it yet?

I dunno, there are several more pressing bugs in THIS LIST that are more problematic to players, such as the bad flagging of some fleet Science DOFFs as Medial.

      I'll ask the same question..

When will we see a fix for the Klingon Marauding Boff reward?

This question is always ignored, I understand KDF players are a small portion of the whole. But, I'm curious now if the message is bluntly

"As a small company Cryptic struggled to stay afloat, with this they've decided to ignore 20% of their player base."

I understand this may just be viewed as "flaming" and removed, but to be fair.. I've asked nicely several times.. We've all entered tickets..

We were told on Jan 16, 2012 this was being looked into....

      8 months later.... well...

It's easy to reproduce.. simply try to change the costume of your boff.. it reverts...

Has the infameows typo of "not" and "now" stroke again? Didn't you wish to say: Fleet Duffs now grant Recruitment CXP and Diliffium when dismissed?

No they originally GAVE CXP and Dilithium, People were Exploiting it buying the Doffs and dismissing them for dil and CXP. they were purchasable for 500 credits. So I believe it is will "NOT" grant the CXP and DIL. Because Currently they do.

Increased the base turn rate of the Science Vessel, Science Vessel Refit, Science Vessel Retrofit, and Fleet Science Vessel Retrofit from 14 to 15.
It's nice to see that at least one "older" ship is getting its stats modified, thus making it at least somewhat more desirable for a Fleet variant, but can we expect the same for other vessels as well? I mean, the Fleet Science Vessel Retrofit is basically the only lower tier Fleet ship that's worth any attention, while the rest is so underpowered they can barely stand up to the RA ships. I would gladly fly the Fleet Escort Retrofit (Sabre/Gladius), but its stats are way worse than your standard RA Patrol Escort, yet it costs the same as the superior Fleet Patrol Escort... What's the logic here?

I honestly don't get the purpose behind those lower tier retrofits. Are they there only to satisfy those few people who just want a ship for looks, and not performance? Why would anyone ever say to himself "oh gee, I surely want to spend 20$ for a ship that is worse than the one I got for free at RA"?

The Klingons suffer the most from this... No Fleet Marauder, no Fleet Kar'Fi, no Fleet Varanus, no Fleet B'Rel... yet they get a lot of lower tier retrofits, many of which could barely function as a BG (RA) ship...

      Still:
Resolved issues with HUD UI options not remembering changes for Mouse Over selections.
      Finally.

Any chance of adding "Advanced Fleet Tetryon Turret MK XII [Acc] [Dmg]x3" to the fleet space store soon?

      Systems:
The initial Crew loss from torpedo hits is no longer unresistable.
If you have resistance to Crew damage, you should now see a greater difference to your losses over time.

Umm... forgive me if this sounds silly but WHAT 'initial' crew loss? You get hit by two or three photon torpedoes and your entire crew is DEAD. Really old bug/design flaw that has never been fixed.

I would understand to have heavy crew losses if the torpedo hits the hull but this is happening when the torpedo hits the shields. Pow pow pow your crew is dead and your captain is heroically running back and forth all the stations in the bridge like a ferret on meth.

      Updated Melee Combat:

Melee weapons and attacks now have 80% bonus shield penetration, up from 50%.
Increased the base damage of all melee attacks.
Nanopulse melee weapons were given a smaller damage boost than other melee weapons.

The maximum total bonus is still the same as before.
Unarmed combat still does not benefit from Weapon Proficiency.

I would suggest unarmed combat gets a benefit from weapon proficiency because it is a viable means to fight and most tactical melee abilities do not use the weapon but rather unarmed (aka lunge = unarmed) combat type.

Finally, thank you for the fix to flight deck doff flickering on and off. it was *really* annoying.

Fleet Duty Officers will not grant Recruitment CXP and Dilithium when dismissed.

      O_o

      why?

we are kinda used to it that every doff that is dismissed gives a bit of dilithium and recruitment cxp.

are these fleet doffs at least somehow distinguishable from normal doffs so that we don't dismiss those by mistake?

with 4400 DOffs on my 11 chars you surely don't expect me to remember which ones came from there ;P

Hmm I wonder if melee would be viable now? Might be cool to pick up a Crystalline Sword. Is there actually a melee guide around that gives detail about the combos?

I noticed that the TOS Interior map [not the Bridge] is just the Crew Deck. Is there a way to get to the Engineering Deck from there or is the Engineering Deck [with Main Engineering and the Transporter Room] going to be a separate map that's included later? :)

EDIT: I figured out that I was mistaken. lol :D I zoomed the map out and saw that both levels were on the same map. :o
