Tip for Cryptic how to make ton of money

dalnar83dalnar83 Member Posts: 2,420 Arc User
Sell ship layouts and ship skins separated. For example. If you buy the Galaxy-R retrofit, you can unlock Galaxy Skin and Galaxy layout for your cruisers. Now some player might prefer the assault cruiser layout. And he could just combine the two (skin+layout) and be a happy customer.

The reason is, most people have their favorite ships, but the layouts assigned to them are not always (mostly never lol) the ones players would feel comfortable with.

We need to get more options not less.

Edit: Fixed the typos for grammar.

Is there really a need for that? He's perfectly clear in what he's saying.

And I kind of agree with him, it'd be nice to seperate the look for a ship from it's bridge officer layout. It's a pipedream, it'll not happen, but I could go for it ;-)

I think that only two stations (Commander and Lt. Commander) stations should be set according to ship type.

Not clear, and not a good idea. Now the tier removal where you swap warp cores and deflectors ect is a great idea.... go like that post.

repeated use of "ENGRISH" quite obviously intended as some sort of dig against asians. 0

Plain and simple racisim. Just because it is not blatant , or (perhaps in your case Dalnar) even intended , does not make it not racism.

Such casual use of racist statements , not moderated in any way, reinforces the idea that being racially insensitive is okay.

It's not anything about your grammar. It's about the (perhaps unintended) content of your postings.

    As to the original idea.
    I like it a lot.
I would indeed pay for skins and layouts more comfortable to my play style to be on the ship's I actually want to use.

So I made a new thread, he trolls on me because my poor english (it's my 4th language I have learned). Then the same person writes something that does not make sense and I just repeated his own words back on him....

And that's racistic how exactly ?

    Explained already previous.
Casual use of statements, insults, jokes, etc. which (intended or not), which have any racist over(or under) tones, reinforces a culture wherein it becomes ok or even acceptable to be "casually" racist.

This does not make you a racist. As I have said, probably unintentional in your case, Dalnar. And you are correct , It was the person with issues who started it. Without doubt. But to echo the same insensitive words back at him, to make a point or whatever, is just as racially insensitive as the original statement.

Also as stated (trying to get to the original point of the thread). The original idea is a very good one. Something I would like to see intelligent people without issues actually talking about.

Its the use of the word Engrish over the correct word English.

When its spelt Engrish is often used an insult to Asian people and how they speak/spell.

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=engrish

You did not start the argument, and being your 4th language you may not have realised what you said but you might be wise to edit your post anyway to be safe.

LOL, I never knew Engrish word was used for anything...damn must be something from US, never heard it on any EU forums. You learn new things every day. But quite frankly I think it's overreaction.

Thanks for editing your post, Bro.

Sorry if I come off as passionate about this subject,
but casual racism is kind of a trigger for me.

Why can't people stop making "cryptic, make money" threads? Why can't you make "cryptic, this is how you could make the game better" thread?

Anyway, this idea has already been mentionned in billions of posts.

Because everything done in STO since it's beginning is not driven by the need to improve game, but to increase profits.

And also the system will soon reach it's limitation, because all ship layouts combinations will be taken...and what then ?

A partially customizable system would benefit everyone. Of couse with some restrictions. Some skins and layouts would be only for cruisers, while some could be hybrids, like nebula could be both science ship or cruiser. The turn rate and innertial ratings would be tied to the skins.

I was just saying: don't stimulate their greed. I'm ok with the fact that they make money, but the last c-store new stff we got was something players were asking for badly. EV suits, Soverign retrofit, account bank slots. And now it's overpriced, because they got the feeling that people would pay a lot of money for that since they made a lot of threads where they were saying 'I would give my belly button/first born son to cryptic if they give me my toy'. :)

Ha! I hear you on that. It was sad when I looked at all of the "featured items" just before the launch of the Regent Class and realized that I considered every one of them to be a ripoff. The Special Service Squadron has rejected the new EV suit as overpriced, though some of us like and did want the costume, and of course it is a character and not account unlock. The fleet ship modules, though I've come to accept them somewhat, provoked some pretty intense reactions from me when they were released. The account bank slots, though a nice (and needed) perk for Gold members, are ridiculously overpriced. The Regent Class, priced in line with other VA ships, was thankfully not a ripoff at least compared to other in-game items, and I bought it within an hour or two of its release.

I do, however, wonder why they don't put out such simple fan requests as species-specific combadges, or more costume options, since there are a lot of folks who would pony up a reasonable amount of Zen for such things, as long as they were account unlocks and priced comparably to existing costume options. Melee weapons have also been frequently requested. I know I'd drop some Zen for a pet beagle, too. :D

Wish I could report the both of you for being at the least racially insensitive, and at the worst , moronic racist idiots. Super sad that I see one of the new mods in here and the only comment was "is that really called for ?"

Watch me be the one who gets the warning for calling these two mental giants racist idiots.

Apparently racism is okay , so long as you aren't blatant about it round these parts.

Where is @askray when you need him.

In fairness the first comment was meant in way of a reminder and to give the poster a chance to rectify their comment. I'm now going to say it explicitly, people need to go through their comments in this thread and clean them up.

If you're unsure what needs cleaning up please check the forum rules here

Now let's try and keep this thread on topic as it has some potential for interesting discussion :)

(Seperate note the new mods aren't fully active yet pending full induction on the forum systems, I've passed it along to active moderators to tidy up and lock)

Don't fret it dude. We're watching things and passing them on, but don't yet have full systems access - think of us like Geordi in Engineering during Season 1 of TNG ;-)
