I recently returned to STO after a long hiatus as a lifer. I have a 50 Tact, 18 Science, and a 32 Engineer from when I previously played, but due to the changes in gameplay I decided to start over with a new Science Office.
I'm currently 24 and I've just started doing Romulan missions. I have the standard Commander Science ship you get for free. And I just started to notice something. When the Romulan ships send one of their big shootable plasma torpedoes at me, they start to get close then veer back at their origin ship and hit themselves. Now this only seems to happen if I'm relatively facing the torpedo, if my back or side is to them then I get hit.
Now I've searched the forums, google, and double checked all my skills, abilities, and Equipment and I can't find anything that would lend any insight as to why this is occurring. So I can't say if it's a feature or a bug? Anyone have any ideas or know what's going on?
I encountered this problem a lot of times...it was definitely fun.
However, they don't hit exactly for much damage not much of the pure killing power of a Heavy Plasma, but they can finish a Bird of Prey or a Mogai off without me firing a torpedo.
But yeah it's a bug, but it's something that way too fun to fix, but if it's fixed I don't mind.
I have not seen it as a bug, but it sure is fun hitting a bunch of enemy ships with Scramble Sensors, which is intended to foul up their friend-or-foe recognition, causing them to fire on each other. Nothing funnier than seeing a bio-neural warhead fired by the enemy homing in one of their own ships. Well, except maybe seeing a horde of enemy Boarding Parties rushing for another enemy ship. I snicker every time I picture them boarding their own ships, running through the target ship like John Cleese in the castle scene in Monte Python and The Holy Grail, mindlessly killing everyone then going, "Sorry. Sorry," when they realize where they are.

DONT COMPLAIN. THIS is an acutally awesome bug. It saves you from killing teh romies.
I think its actually a kinda neat bug.
Gives the illusion of a mini-Romulan Civil War, or inner conflict lol
Since in game they are a somewhat splintered group now, it does actually make sense that they would go "oh hell, I don't like this Commander/Sub-commander, lets take him out too while we are at it" since you would expect certain political/military groups to fight for control of the Romulan Star Empire.
So, its a bug that I wouldn't mind them not fixing:o but thats just me.
it si a grat bug. Makes fighting the Wrbirds easier. As is the fact that they sometimes do not recognize you as a enemy. Happened in Ground zero and in the Iconia mission

The friend-or-foe recognition is broken on the Romulan torpedoes, so half the time they target a random Romulan ship.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] "I weary of the chase. Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick."
