So How Bout Them Costumes?

I'm probably strange in the Foundry. I spend about as much time trying to customize characters I'm creating in the Foundry as alimac30 probably spends on a map.

My characters certainly aren't as cool as anything alimac30 makes with a map, but that's beside the point.

Point is, I devote a LOT of time making each and every character I place on a map "right". To me, it would be like trying to make a Superman movie but not caring to make sure your casting and costuming is flawless.

So you can understand my frustration every time I go to make a character and realize I don't have access to, you know, certain uniforms we've had access to in game for over a year. Jupiter uniforms, TOS uniforms, what have you.

What I'm additionally confused about is that we seem to have a PORTION of the uniform, but not the whole. Like, why do we have Academy Heels but not Academy Skirts or Jackets? What makes shoes easy but jackets hard?

Also, additionally, I believe we ought to have full ability to customize not just Federation or KDF factioned species, but every species in the game. I ought to be able to customize the face and clothing of a Romulan if I need to. The way the Foundry character customize is currently was fine pre-sliders. But once we got the freedom to customize some looks, we should have gotten the freedom to customize ALL the looks of ALL characters we might use in the Foundry.

Think of it this way, we're making mission content just like the STO devs, but we're expected to just not worry about villain or NPC customization in the process. Isn't that a bit ridiculous?

Everyone who works in the Foundry has their own idea of what the priorities should be, and as long as STO's Foundry dev team consists of an ... well ... one guy, I understand things are going to happen slowly.

That doesn't make it OK, mind you. It just means I understand.

Nonetheless, I think this should become the next priority outside of adding assets.

Once again I will ask the devs to either get busy or allow us to submit our own graphics and 3D mesh. You are lucky you work for such a nice guy, because if I were your boss, you would be filling aps for a new job about now. This long await version of the Foundry is truly pathetic.

This. Some may not be happy about it but there is at least an understanding. Although I'd personally like to see those promised behavior and other mechanical options; assets in costume, map details, and ships should be high on the list.

Hav you are not alone, I spend hours sometimes customizing the face alone to be unique for Npc's, let alone the costumes.

I have desperately wanted Jupiter uniforms at the very least!

I agree. I'll be as patient as a clam for features. Hell, we've had features in the foundry that haven't worked as intended since day 1. I'll be very patient with features.

But I need assets, costumes, maps, and ships. Please prioritize those things, devs.

100% agree with this list, especially Bajoran militia since we now have Bajor ground.

I'd also like to have that Dilithium mining moon map.

Would anyone else like to see the 29th century uniforms like the ones seen in the Voyager episodes Future's End and Relativity, or is it just me? We got uniforms from one future timeline (All Good Things) why not these as well?

All outfits that are in STO should be in the Foundry. (Not like we still don't need to pay for them on the Holodeck. :P)

But when it comes to outfits, I would really like to see more costume options that is not Federation nor Klingon. I'm sure many of you are getting tired of dressing up alien races in robes or human 20th century formal wear. We need new alien outfits to give us more of a variety.

This also benefits the STO team as well in making a population more convincing.

    Definatley yes!

I've got a mission cooking with mirror universe characters and a starfleet academy student. None of which currently meshes with the in-universe expectations of the game.

I'm stuck with either making up my own uniforms that look far out of place with other in game uniforms or picking a standard character from the options given (Which is pretty distasteful to my mind)

It is a small annoyance, granted but it really gets to my crazy OCD uniform mind.

I'd also love to be able to set the appearance of ships' gear (Eg. Borg Set, Aegis Set, etc) To reflect story aspects. (Eg. Oh no! The borg have assimilated the U.S.S. Nonconformist)

In a similar vein, we really should have separate editors for characters and clothing, so that we can make standard uniform styles to use with multiple characters (including NPC groups). For example I have a MACO combat-fatigue design in mind that I'd like to skin onto Federation NPC groups (whose appearances, apart from the unis, seem to be randomly generated), but as it is, to do that I'd have to create multiple unique whole character costumes, and even then I'd end up with sets of identical-looking MACOs if I ever wanted to use more than one of those NPC groups on a map, because I'd be using the same few whole-character costumes over and over again. Talk about "Clone Wars"...
