Does anyone know if the type 6 material will be made availabe for all ships. I love being able to customize my ship but you can only have the type 6 material if you use that c-store template

so if you have the armitage and you change the saucer, the skin 6 option becomes unavailable.
I guess it is a great deal of work to apply all existing models with this skin option. And as you might know if that time to profit balance comes in with a big fat minus in front, cryptic has no intention to do it. So i say no...not an option even in future.
I agree that it is doubtful because they specifically excluded certain ships, such as the Atrox and the D'Kora (and most, if not all, lockbox ships). In those cases, they are not standard Federation or KDF ships. Therefore, it makes sense that they would not necessarily have access to the same materials having been "built" elsewhere. However, I have to partially disagree with your assessment about interchangeable parts.
My Armitage has an Armitage saucer and struts, the Akira hull, and the Oslo nacells, and I have no problem applying the type 6 material on that configuration. Therefore, it may well be that if you change the saucer, it causes problems. I would not know that because I prefer the Armitage saucer. However, it does apply to configurations using interchangeable parts because I am using parts from three different ships, and I can apply it. If it does not apply if you change the saucer, as you observation suggests, then I suspect it is merely a bug. For instance, if you get the base Heavy Escort, I would have to assume that the type 6 material applies. Therefore, there is no reason it would not apply if you used those same parts on the Armitage.
We do know there has been a ship's tailor bug, and we do know that there has been a problem applying the type 6 material in general at times, even when it should apply. Therefore, I would agree that it is doubtful that ever it will apply to any ship you can have, but there are reasons for that, as stated above. On the other hand, it should apply to any Federation-built ship (I assume a similar principle would apply for the KDF version).
