Returning player with some questions

saucersepsaucersep Member Posts: 30 Arc User
I have been away about 2 years and am feeling a little overwhelmed with the changes.

Just some basic questions as I am not sure how some of the resources got converted.

I have a level 45 char from before. I also started a new char just to get a feel for some of the changes from the perspective of a fresh character.

I noticed while going through the first couple of levels that there are new kinds of training points being earned along with skill points. Also some new unique items being given as rewards for the early missions.

My question is would I be missing out on anything, like expertise points (or anything related to leveling) or valuable mission rewards items added in the last 2 years, if I use my original character?

Or to put it another way, is there any advantage to leveling a new character?

Expertise used to be the boff training skill. Your old character should have had his/hers converted.

You're not missing out on anything by using your old character in terms of mission rewards as you can choose to replay all those missions. When you replay these missions, they give out rewards that are now appropriate to your level too. For example, that Efficient Impulse engine? You remember that? Well you can get that in Mk XI now (though you should probably not actually use that, just giving an example).

On the other hand, leveling a new character might let you get used to changes in powers a few at a time. Other than that, you're not missing out.
