heh... should've explained my own naming convention. All of Fin Hawkins ships are named after swords. As I mentioned before, his current ship is the USS Kusanagi, a kitbashed Carrier Escort (Artimage saucer, Thunderchild nacelles and hull, and Akira struts). It is named after one of the three Japanese regalia known as the "Grass Cutter Sword" (the other two being a mirror and a jewel). Other ships include the USS Xiphus Gladius (Exeter Class Cruiser), the USS Acinaces (Shi'kar Class) and USS Kaiser Blade (Multi Vector Escort).

Why swords? Well... I consider Tactical Officers to be the "Swords of Starfleet". If Starfleet needs people to stand up to Klingon Warriors the redshirts are first in line.

Already got an Engineer started as well. Her ships will be named after shields...

My main who's a science officer and has my name currently captains an RSV called the USS Gundere. Anime fans will recognize the term as it's associated with my forum avatar. I'm convinced that if the ship were a woman she'd blast him with her weapons for annoying her...

USS Sultan -Mirror sovereign class random name cryptic gave

USS Parthenon -Odyssey class wanted a name that had to do with Greece original idea was the Iliad the prequel to homers odyssey but every one was calling the odyssey that so picked Parthenon

USS Victoria -Cheyenne class Fleet heavy cruiser original name cryptic gave was Victorian i chopped off the N as i thought Victoria sounded better. later retconned it to be named after Queen Victoria. now with the fleet system i have this old ship back as USS Victoria AC-154. i just RP that Starfleet do tot he war has brought back some ships that where suppose to be scrapped. the AC-154 is just so i can have 2 ships named Victoria it stands for Attack Cruiser and the 154 is the last 3 digits of the registry number

USS Victoria-A -Galaxy/Venture Class hybrid when i became captain and had to get a new ship i liked Victoria enough i used it again and just RP'ed that the old one was decommissioned the Victoria A is also my main when i first came RA i actually still used the T4 Galaxy up until VA when i could use the oddy then got the retro so the galaxy class in one form or another has been my main ship for a little over a year

    U.S.S. Exelion

I don't recognize the USS Swordbreaker, but the name Exelion I remember from an old anime titled "Gunbuster", Hideki Anno's first work.... or one of his first. It's been so long I can barely remember...

And I think I have sighted a USS Gunbuster somewhere during my travels...

Only gonna name the ships for my primary Fed character. :) (in no particular order) [except that the ship I'm currently using is listed last]

U.S.S. Bartowski - Captain's Yacht - Named for the NBC computer tech turned spy Chuck Bartowski on the September 2007 to January 2012 series "Chuck", played by Zachary Levi.

U.S.S. Battlestar - Assault Cruiser - Named for the December 2003 to January 2010 TV series "Battlestar Galactica" that aired on SyFy which was remade from the September 1978 to August 1979 series.

U.S.S. Corvus Corax - Escort - Named for my girlfriend's favorite bird.

U.S.S. Enterprize - Constitution Class Cruiser - Given that I'd gotten the ship for free when I bought the game and since it was a Constitution Class, I knew, as a "Star Trek: TOS" fan, I was gonna name it something close to the actual name it was famous for.

U.S.S. Fairyqueen - Heavy Cruiser - Named for the second half of my girlfriend's username on Yahoo! Messenger

U.S.S. Highflyer - Star Cruiser - Named for the first half of my username on Yahoo! Messenger

U.S.S. Lockwood - Delta Flyer - Named for the last name of the werewolf character Tyler Lockwood on the currently airing CW series "The Vampire Diaries"

U.S.S. Passionstorm - Exploration Cruiser - My girlfriend came up with this idea; she'd told me she got it from someone else, though I didn't get an explanation behind why that name was chosen.

U.S.S. Petrova - Class F Shuttle - Named for the last name of the vampire character Katerina Petrova on the currently airing CW series "The Vampire Diaries"

U.S.S. Salvatore - Exploration Cruiser Retrofit - Named for the last name of the vampire brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore on the currently airing CW series "The Vampire Diaries"

U.S.S. Smith - Type 10 Shuttlecraft - Named for my girfriend (her last name)

U.S.S. Winchester - Light Cruiser - Named for the last name of the family comprised of Sam, Dean, John and Mary from the currently airing WB/CW series "Supernatural" (my first ship)
    And my current ship...

U.S.S. Callaghan - Odyssey Star Cruiser - Named for the police officer character Julianna "Jules" Callaghan on the currently airing CBS/CTV series "Flashpoint", played by former Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger Amy Jo Johnson.

Sometimes the random button gets a good one that I just let it keep it.

But I might do my own "Enterprise" but go with "But the Enterpriiiiizzzzzeeee" if it will work. I might try that now.

I started off thinking about the perfect names for my ships. Unless it was of a class that I couldn't stand to fly, such as those dratted fishbowl-shaped Research Science Vessels, I made certain that I wouldn't be embarrassed to show up on some NPC's target lock. (Whenever I see someone fly by with the name U.S.S. Chuck Norrises Pinkie or some other TRIBBLE, I really wish we could blow our fellow officers out of space. Just sayin'.)

So far, the only one I've been truly happy with is my Intrepid-class, the U.S.S. Fairweather. I wanted something that could evoke the same majesty as the U.S.S. Voyager had with her name, and I personally remain convinced that I got one. And yes, when I get the LRSV Refit, I'll be keeping the name, thank you very much! I even have a quotation picked out for her plaque.

"For it's always fair weather - When good fellows get together- With a stein on the table and a good song ringing clear" -- Richard Hovey, Spring

Yet until I can scrape together the ZEN for it, I'll be piloting the U.S.S. San Gorgonio, the name of my high school from [way too &^%$ing long ago].

Oh lord, I've got so too many ships on too many characters to list them all, here are the highlights:

USS Cosmos NCC-101864-A: Odyssey Ops, same name as the first ship I got on reaching Lieutenant with a play on the Reliant's registry

USS Wintermute NX-4410102: Armitage, named for the AI from Neuromancer and using part of the book's ISBN number for a registry. I'm such a nerd...

USS Kuiper NCC-92000-A: Nebula, again using a name from a previous ship

USS Pioneer/USS Mariner: Intrepids, thought it would be fitting to use the names of other probe series

USS Stalingrad: Defiant, named for the battle

USS S'harien: Prometheus, what better name for an escort captained by a Vulcan than a Vulcan swordsmith?

    USS Caliburn: Sovereign

USS Selene: Luna, Greek goddess of the moon

IKS Comicron One: Phalanx, named for laughs

IKS Helexith: Qin raptor, anyone who's a member of Saber-Scorpion's Lair Forums should get this, anyone else should consider it advertisement
Admiral Katrina Tokareva - U.S.S. Cosmos, Yorktown-class Star Cruiser
Admiral Dananra Lekall - R.R.W. Teverresh, Deihu-class Warbird
    General J'Kar son of K'tsulan - I.K.S. Dlahath, Vo'devwl-class Carrier

My ships across the board all share the same name: U.S.S. Geminon NCC-BIRTHDAY
Gemini is my zodiacsign and I'm not that creative.
(And ya, I know about BSG)

One exception is the U.S.S. Madame Pompadour NCC-291221
It is flown by my Sci, and got named by my wife. And she took the name out of Doctor Who, because she likes the actress who played her.

Well my ships goes as follows:

Exploration Cruiser Retrofit (my current ride) : USS Yamato, in honor of the Enterprise D sister ship and the TNG Anniversery since i just got her a few days ago.

Tactical Escort Retrofit: USS Tiberium, based upon the Star Wars Lambda shuttle in SW Ep. VI. Flying causal takes a whole new meanining lol

Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit: USS Vyper, kind of wanted a name that stood for beautiful but deadly about her since Voyager always had the "run and hide" reputation about her but she still had teeth and never once did they "dumb the Borg" in the show.

Star Cruiser (our universe): USS Galactica, as a kid before Star Trek came into my life i always had a fondness over BSG the Original on TV.

Ive got more but those are the ones that i use the most or currently

    Fed Toon:

Shuttle: U.S.S. Highlander - Danube Runabout: Because why not?

    Ships:
(Lt.) U.S.S. PT-109 - Shi'Kar Variant (with Centaur pylons and Miranda engines/weapon pod): It's named after the ship John F. Kennedy served on during WWII. It's a semi-famous ship.

(Lt. Comm.) U.S.S. Veranus - Excalibur Class: I could not come up with anything unique and better.

(Comm.) U.S.S. Stalingrad - Akira Class: Named after the battle.

(Capt.) U.S.S. Whitestar - Defiant Class: Babylon 5, which is an awesome show. (#2 on my list of favorite sci-fi tv series. #1 is TNG)

(Current) U.S.S. John F. Kennedy - Gryphon variant (with Dervish Saucer): John F. Kennedy was an awesome president and a strong leader. I know in the US military, only carriers are named after presidents, but this was named before the Atrox and I do what I want.

(Current) U.S.S. Iris Arc - Mirror Assault Cruiser variant (Just a hash of stuff that looked good together): A flagship in my own sci-fi universe idea. That's all I can say.

KDF Toon (the more "important" ships):

(Capt.) I.K.S. 'Iwro' - Vor'cha Attack Cruiser: I believe that's Klingon for Blood Fist, which is a name for one of my micro-machine ships, another Vor'cha, which has a red streak across the front section.

(Current) I.K.S. Qulqa' - Vo'Quv Carrier: Translate and see what else I'm a fan of (...at least until the next installment later this year :( ). You may have to switch the words to figure it out.

I've only passingly themed my characters. Only ones I really pre-planned were my sci Klink, using FF4 names: the Scarmilogne, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia, and Rubicante levelling up, with Rubicante, Golbez and Zeromus for endgame.

And my Ferengi who pretty much just referenced Nova while levelling up: Rick Chappy, Ginger Powder, Wiggling Niblets and LITTLE BOY. Yes, lame.
