Thank you very much cryptic. Keep up the great work. TAILOR FIX+NO MINE REVAMP

This shows Cryptic has:

1. Developed the ability to prioritize what people want.
2. Realized don't release Overpowered content that isnt ballanced in any way.
3. LISTENED TO PLAYERS!

Mine revamp was terrible. if it went live, it just shows cryptic didnt listen to any feedback from pvpers. Mine revamp would have had no effect on pve at all, and killed whats left of pvp.

Good Job on NOT letting this make it to live. I now haz moar hope that cryptic wont kill STO afterall.

Forgive my non-PvPing ignorance, but...what do you mean by a 'mine revamp'?
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

There were several major changes proposed for the mechanics for mines. I don't use mines or PvP. I don't quite understand it. But, apparently the changes were tested on tribble, but are not being published in the holodeck patch tomorrow morning.

The OP is assuming they dropped the idea and it will die. I'm thinkin' that's a pretty big change that they wanted to polish some more before it goes live.

They did not fix the most glaring problem in Colony Invasion - the fact that you beam up the diplomats while taking dmg or the diplomat moving you LOSE the bonus!

In all parts of the game you cannot interact with anything while taking damage - or if you start interacting and then start taking damage the interaction stops until the damage stops - but not with the diplomats - this is a bug that costs as much lost points as the dying colonists!!

Please fix this - it has been reported by many many people

Interesting. I read through all that, and I could understand why people would be...fussy, to put it mildly.

I do know of a few people who would be very happy knowing that you could use the Dispersal patterns with Tricobalts though, if this still happens though.

    Thanks for answering my question.

Problem is, someone thinks the lack of mine usage by players is a balance issue, discounting the fact that mines and torpedos are different weapons meant for different purposes. The solution is to try to make them interchangable with torpedos and to make some so OP that they will be used more in liu of torpedos.

    More B&B trek.

I can hardly wait to start spamming STF's with mines !

Mines are a tricky subject. I've always thought they were odd in teh context of the game. I personally feel that mines should be a device rather than a weapon slot.

If I were a developer I would feel insulted. Despite what you and some other people think they are trying to improve the game.

The problem is that mines have practically no place in a space setting at all.
Because mines by the vary definition are not mobile explosive devices.
You either have to deploy them over a small space that blocks off access to an area beyond them, bajoran wormhole entrance, or in such mass that they become massively cost ineffective. In all other cases, the one you want to block can just fly around them, because space is not just big, its really huge.

Dropping mines behind you against a ship in pursuit? Why bother, just fire your aft torpedoes.

Just get rid of them completely and replace the mine launchers with torpedo launchers.

I don't agree they should be removed completely, but yes to the first paragraph- they are inefficient in space vs anything but a freighter in shipping lanes. Like I said tho, the spam I predict from all the new users of these revamped OP weapons may bring the server to it's knees.

    Let the games begin.

That's all what the vocal minority wants. The silent majority apparently wants to dress up and RP in ships.

Well I do hope that the mine revamp will come on holodeck at some point, these changes aren't bad, we just need to adapt our game style.

I enjoy playing pvp a few times a week, but I will never share the love of whinning we see on the dedicated forum. It's incredible to see how conservative hardcore pvpers are. Their current build is workind and they don't want to change it just because they would have to get some different equipment or to give up some special BO ability... It's a pity. The game needs balance, but the main concern should be pay to win options, not a revamp on something everyone can get.

So do i, but just because it needs a revamp doesnt mean it needs an OP spammable ability. Tachyon Mines are a massive resist debuff and shield damage, resist debuff is not resistable. Transphasic mines basicly ignore shields and now they obliterate heals in pvp.

The fact is transphasic mine change would effectively destroy all healers in pvp. Hull tanking is not a viable option for sci ships or escorts. if ur an escort without shields, i can 1 shot u.

FYI, im NOT one of the players the mine revamp would hurt. I fly a Hulltank bugship. My defence is my speed, I dont rely on heals. But some people are bad enough in pvp already What happens when a noob cruiser who can barely stay alive is faced with -50% shield healing, You get less players in pvp.

RL mines are only 'not mobile' because they are in a liquid environment. Even then they are semi-mobile. The whole point of magnetic mines is to be attracted via magnetism to a metal hulled warship.

Also the context is that you are not just laying them in the middle of space with no enemy around and expecting them to be useful. You are laying them in combat near an enemy

Regardless of whether they make sense to you or not, there are mines in Star Trek canon.
