Perfect World and Cryptic's choice of business model or state of mind is in no way offensive to me at all.

    Anything else?

How about a subscription to the Wall Street Journal? A box set of Whose Line Is It Anyways?

I replied to someone talking about how TOR is P2W now and I point out how much P2W exists here. And you had a problem? So yeah, sure it's not an issue with you.

Nope, no problem at all darthy.

My reply to your subhilarious stock symbolry didn't warrant a reply as it had about as much value as your post did.

But you decided that we should banter our way into derailing this thread, so I'm just along for the ride, laughs a plenty.

    Thanks,

And hold a second. I'm putting the Brooklyn Bridge on eBay. I think I found a buyer. And it will come complete but you must also bid on the master key to allow cars to go over it. Now that's PWE-type eBaying mastered.

Questions before we complete the purchase of such a prestigious bridge.

    1) What is a car?

    2) How much does S&H cost to Uruguay?

Thanks for your time and auction, PWEstormstrike.

Ever been to the Academy and see that bridge in the background, in the 21st century, they didn't have flying shuttles exactly so to get across the bay, they had to use a thing called cars.

It can be done with a small donation of 1,000,000 bars of gold pressed latinum.

That sounds pretty complicated, I'll have to ask my wife.

1,000,000 bars of gold pressed latinum?

    I dunno.

That's the price Grand Nagus Express charges for the shipping. And word has it, they are cheaper and faster than the United Federation of Planets Mail.

And the UKDF is not as reliable as stuff goes missing even with the tracking they offer. Plus there have been reports of Bat'leths through the items being shipped like they were angry at something. It might be those drab colored uniforms they are forced to wear.

It's truly unfortunate that the postal services available, red blue and yellow, are in an abysmal state.

I blame Congress. And socialism. And TOR officially going F2P.

It truly is a P2W(E) world we're living in.

BTW wtf is a Star Trek and how did I end up in this thing?

i played TOR for 2 afternoons in Open Beta (it wasn't longer than that lol)
and said to myself "yepp, you are going F2P, and it won't take you 2 years, and THEN i'm going to play you, not falling for all this Pre Order Bonus HYPE HYPE HYPE and the game looks as boring as this..."

oh well if its going F2P now already, i guess i'm going to have to make a bit time for it now? lol... damn

....oh well you know what, i will just wait another 6 months, if they introduce LockBoxes in that time i will just skip that game completely.

...However, after thinking about it I believe I stand corrected. The total number of subs across all Cryptic games was around 100k or less.

Not to pick on this point repeatedly, but we only ever knew two things "officially"

    1. STO (not all Cryptic games) had "well over 100k subscribers" on launch ~ May 23rd 2010
    2. MMOdata.net's under 60k figure (which is clearly prefaced on it's own site as being pure conjecture) was disputed by Stormshade who said "...not only are those numbers wrong, they're also very low when compared to fact." - May 1st 2011

Its very likely our game nose dived that summer during the drought, but we just have no solid basis to compute a number these days (post f2p).

I wonder if Trion's Rift may lean towards free to play now (fully f2p).

    Lol......

I think 3/4 of the gaming community called it. I for one am glad to see it. Now Bioware will gouge their players for money through content, the reason I stopped playing LOTRO.

So you were playing for free and felt "gouged" when they asked you to pay a few bucks to get more content?

I'd gladly give Cryptic $30.00 for a 20 mission content expansion pack with a new race or two and a couple of new ships! :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

There is also the third - we have the revenue figures for Cryptic from Atari. You shouldn't be making more money than what you are disclosing to your shareholders, sothat gives you a maximum for what Cryptic made that year in subs, micro-transactions, etc.

Ive played TOR since launch, and have rolled 4 50's, reached 75 for pvp, and to be frank, I just dont enjoy it. I think the reason for this is that it just reminds me so much like WoW. Its defenetly a hardcore grind then anything else. For that, the main reason why I came back here. And to be honest, I'm really enjoying being back in STO. Alot has changed, and currently running STF's to get my elite gear.

Iam pretty astonished to see TOR going ftp, but at the same time I'm not surprised. They have lost alot of people do to items not being in game when they should be. A game that has costed greatly to get out of developement and seeing it this early going to ftp, can someone say OUCH. I honestly dont think ill be going back to the game anytime. I just hope sto's future is bright with new content ahead, it may take time but hopefully they add key features thatll bring people to the game and make it better and better.

Follows what I told my friends. They tried to get me to play the game as far back as beta and I said "WHEN" it goes free to play. I never "If."

It's gone free to play, it will go on for at least as long as STO has, and a lot longer too with the new story content and level cap raise that's coming, and all this while still in it's first year of operating as well, that's the sign of a great game

To be fair, Cryptic gives subs something. But so little that it doesn't require a *CONTINUING* sub. Just sub for the month you level an alt then cancel here is all you need to do. Here if you aren't LTS then being continuing gold is a sucker's position.

Mods aren't doing their jobs. They need to merge this thread with the bigger one that's been going on for a while now.

And NO LOCKBOXES. NO MASTER KEYS. So STO still has more to LOL about.

EVE is only for kids that get picked on at school so they have to live out their fantasies on a game for revenge.

I tried it as a new player and instantly found out that griefing was the way to do the game by high level people and actually encouraged. Never went back. If high levels only sit there and gank is what I wanted, I'd play WoW on a PvP server and not have to deal with the awkward controls.

Funny, in the STO F2P announcement, they didn't mention lockboxes anywhere in their FAQ or F2P vs Subscription matrix. Given SWToR's model indicates they are borrowing from Turbine's LoTRO F2P model and Funcom's *** F2P model - I wouldn't be surprised to see SWToR get a form of Lockboxes too. EA is not known for restraining themselves when it comes to getting players to pay.

Having to press the "dismiss" button on the s***boxes is better than not being able to play some of the content unless you subscribe.

Plus they've introduced new currency that subscribers will get a stipend of, haven't they? That means obnoxious cash-shop bullcrap is only just around the corner. Assuming it's not there already.
