Here is a list of what I would like to see implemented or changed in this, my favorite (yes, I mean that) game. Some of these have probably been discussed already; frankly, however, I do not have time to sort through the forums, which is what the moderators are for. This document has been completed over a four-month span; Im a stay-at-home dad, and my kids are my priority. There are other items, and as I play the game and discover them, I will bring them to your attention.
System maps Players should be able to set markers on system maps (either for single or teamed play)
Waypoints
Strategic points of attack/avoidance
Klingons
More pve missions less pvp You are already working on this, I am sure.
Specific missions
In survey/scan missions, the mission complete or depart system window pops up even as players are scanning the last anomaly, removing the keyboard controls in the mini-game very annoying.
New Playable Races/Factions
Remans & Romulans! I want to play a Rommie!
Alternate universe characters Terran Empire (or whatever the alternate version of the federation is called) Id love to play one of those also.
Cardassians that are part of The True Way
Undine
Jem Hadar
Merchants & Pirates! (Ties in with ship capturing below)
Combat Options/Issues (PVP/PVE) -
Enable players to capture enemy ships (either pve or pvp) for reward prizes
When you capture a ship, your first officer takes command of it, and follows you, using weapons/special abilities as needed, until you depart the system/leave the arena/map.
The prize could be dilithium, the amount of which would vary between - pve/pvp, ship tier, and command rank differences.
Fix the ability Cover Shield, occasionally NPCs get hung on it (missing most, if not all of the combat), maybe making it permeable to allied players/NPCs is a good thing?
Account safety
I would like to see a mobile authenticator added, similar to World of Warcraft (WoW) and several other games. I think that this alone would help curb some of the account hacking that either has or will come up.
Clothing/Ship designs & colorations
More vivid colors for ships, they barely show up in space
More patterns/styles for ships If players want their ships to look like the Red Barons plane, they should be able to do that, or some other option (free or added to the C-store).
More pattern choices for off-duty clothing informal wear is what? A robe??
Player submitted ship designs would be AWESOME; the creator would be entitled to a percentage of the sales in the form of C-store credits (or dilithium at the creators option)
Is there a reason that FASA ship designs are not used? They were some of the best when they were in print.
Have contests for best ship designs (the prize could be dilithium, credits, free month of service, or whatever).
Switching Ships while on board your ship
Enable the consoles in the ready room to switch ships, taking a hike down to the shuttle bay is a bit of a hassle and a waste of valuable playtime.
Friend or foe recognition
On the Fed side, enemies are highlighted by an orange box, on the Klingon side, the same color is used to denote allies (a silmilar orangish-yellow is used for enemies) this is an irritant and confusing.
My suggestion: orange boxes for enemies, white for allies, gray for neutrals.
I would like to see an accurate log for: C-store credits bought, earned via stipend, etc., as well as a cleaner, clearer dilithium exchange; newer players look at this and scratch their heads so do I.
I have seen the log for c-store credits mentioned several times in forums, also please indicate the date on which Gold and Lifetime players get said stipend.
Players should be able to trade any currency, on the Exchange, for items sold on the exchange. Conversely, players should be able to select a currency preference for the items they are selling.
I just had some thoughts about pvp, putting them here for continuity of my post (above). PVP would have more people, and wouldn't rely on whether or not there are enough Federation/Empire players. No, I am not talking about filling in empty player slots with 'bots,' or adding anything that is not already in the game. It comes down to innovation, using what resources you have, to create. They could *easily* make pvp work by introducing player-led 'alternate universe incursions,' which would make the minimum Fed/Kling ships irrelevant. It would be our universe's Klingons and Federation vs. the 'alternate universe's Feds and Klingons. The perks would come as dilithium, energy credits, zen, or other points that would count toward some of the new ships or zen-cost ones.
Here's an idea for doing something new with the game:
5 players take lower-tier ships and team up against one player in a tier 5 ship!
Captains would be level 50. But the idea raises a question: How low a tier should the 5 ships be? I would guess, counting the number of boff powers, that five tier 2 ships would be about one tier 5 ship. (Which gives the team 15 boff powers vs the T5's 12, albeit of lower tier, plus 5 times the captain powers, and about two and a half times the weapons.) But what is your opinion? Tier 1 ships? Shuttles? Tier 3 ships?
And who of you would like to try that, and would be available on what side of the encounter? I'd be in for either.
This is a perfect example of possible scenarios for PVP. Couple this with appropriate rewards, and people will play. There are hundreds of different scenarios - historical, and imagined, from which to draw inspiration. WWI, WWII, and possibly all of the Star Trek books, comics, and movies have useable 'historic' battles. The beauty is that these same scenarios could be used for PVP or PVE.
Create the content for people to play Klingons from level 1.
Are players more likely to play characters to which they have virtually no ties, one that they merely 'grind' in level just to play on the Klingon side? I think not. I have two friends that play STO, one played the on the Fed side until he was able to play a Klingon, and hasn't played his starting character since.
I think, IMHO that creating and opening the content for the Klingon (Empire) side would make more people interested in playing them in all aspects, and give a solid, and more factioned feel to the game...us versus them, if you will.
