Hi guys, I'm buying my first ship in STO and have decided to pick up one of the Intrepid variants as their very maneuverable and I can use them on my engineering captain to get the best out of them. Now that' I've loaded up my account with the necessary Zen, I'm stuck between whether it would be a better idea to puck up the Bellerophon class and add a liberated borg bridge officer or the Intrepid Retrofit. I really prefer the look of the Bellerophon but I don't know how it's hull strength is going to hold up in the game as far as hull strength is concerned. and guidance you guys could offer would be awesome!
If you buy both the Bellerophon and the Intrepid Retrofit, you can use the Bellerophon parts on the Retrofit. Worth the cost if you really want the ship and want it to look good.

The Bellerophon class itself isn't a top-tier ship, just basically a custom console and skin for the existing LRSV, so your mileage may vary depending on when you pick it up and how long you plan to use it for. The Intrepid Retrofit, however is an appropriately tiered ship and should be useful for all endgame duties including STFs. The differences extend to more than just hull strength, sadly, as the Retrofit has more console slots and places for BOff powers.
As such your purchase should depend on your endgame content aspirations. If you plan on running a bunch of STFs you might find your Bellerophon less useful than the Retrofit.
That said, if you have a Fleet with a starbase you COULD opt to get the Bellerophon, then grind for fleet credits to buy the Fleet Long Range Science Retrofit once you get to the endgame. Buying a C-store ship applies a fat discount on its Fleet equivalent.

That discount is only applied if you have bought a Tier 5 C-Store ship.
For example, if you bought the Bellerophon, you would not get the discount. If you bought the LRSV-Retrofit, you would get the discount.
Bellerphon is available at L30 and comes with a Photonic Shockwave Console.
LRSV-R is available at L50 and comes with a Ablative Armour Console that can only be mounted on itself and the Fleet version.
The Fleet LRSV costs 4 Modules unless you have the LRSV-R. If you have multiple characters who would use the ship (I have both the C-Store variants on my Sci but not my Eng) than the LRSV-R is the way to go, but if you want the looks of the Bellerphon than buy it and the Fleet version and use it on the Sci focused character. My Engineer and Tac would never fly this vessel.
For a more all purpose Sci ship consider the Atrox, or the Tholian Carrier.
If your only buying one, don't buy the Bellerphon, it's lacking a Lt.Com Sci and is basically a T4 DSSV with a Lt instead of a Lt.Com. And yeah I intend to use both consoles on my Fleet ship eventually.
They say you can't put a price on Happiness, this game is giving it a red hot go but.:D
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Really? Bummer, and I was JUST thinking of doing that for my new Sci alt, eventually

Isn't the Tholian Carrier a Lobi ship? Potentially the amount of money he spends buying enough master keys to score enough Lobi crystals to pay for the recluse could pay for the LRSV-R AND the Bellerophon both, plus the Borg BOff.
Yeah, somehow I missed the changes in BOFF seating between them. I guess plain looking Intrepid it its... I looked at the Atrox carrier but I'm so used to my L30 Intrepid's turning rate I couldn't fight like I normally would. I also tried the Odyssey but once again that turning rate just wasn't for me.
I'd forgotten all about the fleet ships since I have yet to join one. Thanks for all the help everyone, and for not making fun of me for positively butchering English in my original post.
For what it's worth I'd prefer an Intrepid on my team over a Catboat or a Spiderclaw every time. She's not as flashy as the other two but she has an actual big-people turn rate, and nothing is a bigger force multiplier than a properly built, maneuverable Sci ship.

There's is something timeless about her, flying the captain variant in events was the best fun I've ever had in STO.
Doesn't the Recon Science Vessel have a better turn rate these days, though?
Difference is very minimal. I do like the Recon (I'm a Tac man at heart and it has a 'neater' BOff layout to me aesthetically) but I'd say the Intrepid is somewhat more of a team ship since it's a little tankier.
