Adding data samples to projects, the quick way.

A solution for all of you who are getting sore wrists and fingers from constantly having to move your mouse around to put data samples into your fleet projects.

First, open up your General Fleet window (the one with the Overview, Holdings, News, etc, tabs along the top), and then open the project you're working on.

Click the Contribute button on the data sample input section.

When the "Select 1 Data Samples to contribute" window pops up, put your finger (not your mouse finger, one on your other hand) on the OK button.

Now, close that window (don't move your finger).

Move the General fleet window so the data sample's Contribute button is exactly where your finger is. It may take a couple of minor adjustments (by opening and closing the data samples window, and nudging the General window around slightly) to get it spot on, but the closer you can get their positions to each other, the better so stick with it.

Now, when you mouse over Contribute, you should be able to double-click, and in doing so quickly click both Contribute and OK.

All you need to do now is tap your Escape key once, and it will close the "you submitted x, here are your fleet credits" window (you still get the credits, obviously).

Get into the rhythm of "double-click, escape, double-click, escape, double-click, escape...." and you'll be filling the progress bar quicker than you ever thought possible.

Hopefully I've explained that well enough, but if needed I'll post some pictures up to clarify things.

Yep, that's what I do. I'm always doing stuff like that so I'm used to it - like mass buying from the exchange and whatnot.

While it's great that you have posted this info, it seems it'd be simple for Cryptic to allow the slider bar like ALL the other commodities.

You have that knack for stating the obvious, it seems... ;)

Yes, but until they do, we need to use every way we can think of to make the work a little easier.

    I've got a better idea.

MAKE IT A ****ING SCALE LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE!

It's bad enough that there are like six tasks needed to actually GET the upgrade to tier one, why they made particle traces/data samples such a pain in the rump to contribute is beyond me.

I just watch an episode of Buffy while doing it.

I'm up to the episode where she's wearing a short skirt and showing off some cleavage. And she stakes a vampire!

You are just hoping nobody blew on the seat or that all the toilet paper is gone.

They did it to "give everyone a chance to contribute". In practice the only thing it's accomplished is giving those who do contribute the chance to enjoy the wonders of repetitive stress injury.

I've had to replace my mouse since fleet starbases hit Holodeck. Maybe it's coincidence... or maybe not. :D
