near perfect Worf

just a shout out - I may have issues with lots of other things cryptic/pwe do, but you guys did an INCREDIBLE job rendering old-school TNG Worf

he looks nearly perfect - and while I found him a tad more palatable in later seasons with the different hair and uniform style, still, rendering 1st season Worf, you guys did just about as good as can be done

Nice work!
There is no correct resolution; it's a test of character.

What's funny, is that "content players create, may not emulate or copy any known canon episode, movie or character", yet Cryptic makes a near-perfect copy of TNG Season 1 Worf. Was Michael Dorn consulted, and has he given rights to use his likeness ingame? And if he did, why not copy the Season 1 Worf, and redo "General Worf", with a more aged look (greyer, longer hair). The current General Worf, looks nothing like him.

Enh... STO has always had Worf. He lives on Qonos.

    Not funny, really.

Cryptic has the rights to Star Trek, laid out by their contract with Paramount/CBS, which probably includes the ability to utilize character likenesses in certain ways.

We, having not signed that agreement, don't get that luxury. Though I agree they should redo 'real' Worf a bit.

I agree with the OP. I immediately recognized Worf when I saw that post, which is a credit to the quality of the likeness. Very nice to see another established character in the game.

Its a great job by Matt Highison I believe.

Actually we may be able to use Worf...

    6. I know we cannot portray actors, but what about characters who were in costumes and make-up and you cannot tell who the actor was?

Nothing in the EULA prevents this. Please refer to the EULA for a list of “Star Trek Properties”.

I was certainly very surprised to link Michael Dorn without half his face/head covered in makeup/wig to Worf when I first saw him plain as day, sans makeup.

I agree, they did a fantastic job, if only the quality they put into Worf could be spread out to the rest of the game. STO has a huge amount of promise, but Cryptic fails to utilise it unfortunately. Wrong company for the game I feel.

Still credit were credit is due, great work guys, Worf looks fantastic now for a mission where you go back into time and get to fight along side him, ever young KDF warrior's dream. ;)

They also did an amazing job on Morn. I spazzed the first time I realized he was sitting there in Quark's, lol. Totally awesome, and I would definitely love to see more of this (Elim Garak is my hero, so I hold out hope for his eventual appearance).

It's too warm and fuzzy in here. Must destroy.

PWE killed Worf. That is all.

Agree. Worf is good. Morn is excellent. He even has the few wisps of hair on his lumpy head.

If the distinctive look of the character is achieved from plastic and make-up and not the actual actors physical appearance, there shouldn't really be any problem using the character in game. Patrick Stewart might feel ripped off if he showed up in-game without being compensated, but a fake rubber head, wig, and pIastic teeth don't get royalties.

If that is the case, I'd like to see Garak and Quark in game and that they get the same character-model attention Morn and Season 1 Worf got. I doubt it would be hard to come up with a good story reason for Garak to go back to the station. Say he got caught spying on/poisoning off political rivals in the Cardassian government and had to go back into exile to avoid prosecution. I'd totally believe that. :D
