Do field generators stack?

Greetings, i'd like to know if field generators stack nowadays, meaning the sci consoles that give around 17% more shield. Think a long time ago they stacked with diminishing returns, is it still the case? or can i now stack 4 of them ^^

    If you wish, but it will be advise to do just 2 and give the slots to other consoles.

    Cheers for a quick reply :). which other 2 consoles would you suggest? always had trouble deciding about sci consoles :P
    if it helps i am using a torpedo boat atrox carrier mainly for pve, not much into STOs pvp.

    Maybe a Shield Emitter Amplifier, or an Emitter Array for the third and a Particle Generator for the 4th. Particle Generator is pretty useful in just about all offensive/crowd control science abilities so I'd take one at least.
