more bridge officer options

Why not have some Binars, or Exocomps, or even some preamble of the Xindi joining the Federation. Maybe some Tamarians too...

    Why restrict this to BOFFs? Why not have these as playable species as well?

    Donl;t know about the others but with the Exocomps it would probably require a lot of rewriting of the code. How are you going to get them to hold a weapon for example?

    Or having the female Exocomps using the Mirror Universe uniform.

    Seriously though, Exocomps would need Exocomp only weapons and costume options. Would like to see melee weapons for Hortas.

    Binars? I don't think so. If you have one Binar, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A 2ND. That's how their race lives. They can't be apart from each other, and I seriously doubt they're going to just have a 2nd Binar running around with you at all times.

    I'm all for this...

    .. But not until they've given us a way of ordering or re-arranging our BOffs in the BOff list! It's incredibly frustrating!

    I'd love to see this stuff and more.

    But considering i'm still waiting to be able to get female Android Boffs from over 200 days ago, Enjoy the ability to customize the look of my Photonic Boff from well over a year and a half ago or even get a Denobulan Boff/Playable species ever since the game went live and your Denobulan captain was the very first NPC you interacted with, I'm not going to hold my breathe on the timescale of any additions.

    I'm all for more BOff and player species, especially the following in both genders and all three career paths:

    • Cardassian

    • Romulan

    • Denobulan

    • Reman - I myself do have that Reman BOff reward from the episode replay, but I've never commissioned him because I wanted an Eng rather than a Sci BOff, and I'm annoyed that I couldn't change his uniform. Aliengen attempts at making a Reman look horrific at best.

    • Photonic - As a "program", such BOffs should have the maximum amount of customisation available, but with an added holographic flicker a la the Facility 4028 holographic security guards

    I don't mind seeing Xindi or Tamarians, although it'd be jarring to see the latter speaking in Federation Standard. OTOH, I'm not keen on Exocomps since assigning away team gear to them is going to get pretty wierd.

    Although both STOwiki and STO Academy has some very extensive tutorials on using the tailor's alien gen to emulate some of these species, at best you get authentic-looking ones with the "Alien" moniker, and at worst you get rather contorted looking results.

    I think there are a few different ways this could be implemented:

    • Automatically sorted based on rank alone
    • Automatically sorted based on rank and department heads, to form some sort of chain of command
    • Simple move up/down arrows to shift each officer through the list

    I very much agree with this. I actually deleted a year ago a "alien" sci officer I had made that was a "hologram" BECAUSE I thought they had moved the hologram race from the "drawing board" to the planning stages.

    Edit: I was agreeing with the post above me not with the general idea of exocomps or binar boffs/players.

    Non humanoid races like exocomps/horta or non standards like binars would not work with the current setup of the game.

    But why not having binaers as duty officers?
    At the moment i have a deltan and a tiburonian as bridge officers. I hope they will be made available as well as denobulans and benzites.

    I'd love to see more BoFF and DoFF and playable races myself. I'd kill for a playable Aenar for example. The hard part is coming up with workable vershions. the Aenar is an excellent example, whilst i can think of a few workarounds, it would be hard to put one in game and still give you customisable traits whilst adhering to the spirit of the species. Similar issues open up for other possobillities. A Bynar for example would potentioll be worked with by making the second Bynar a passive revivable security escort provided by a trait. But thats quite apowerful effect, weak as escorts are. So you have to very carefully consider some aspects.

    Might actually put a post on that together.

    I could support seeing more bridge officer speices. But that wouldnt be too high up on my list, I think that ranks far enough down on my wish list to be below setting uniforms for crew members that you see inside your starship.

    Weapons for Exocomps wouldn't be that hard, just embed the shooty parts into the Exocomp itself. Armor would be kinda silly, but no reason they can't use the personal shields. Hypos wouldn't be that effective, but you could give them a very high dodge rate and low threat level to counteract the fact they cannot use armor and cannot easily heal themselves.

    They could also be immune to roots and holds (being a flying robot and all) and you could give them an array of interesting abilities to give them staying power.

    Say a hypospray gun (For medial Comps), the ability to heal turrets/generators (Engies), and a special weapon, or weapon boosting ability (Tacticals), or some variation thereof.

    I would like to see the Edosian species as an option. A very high threat level, but with good health, and can wield two weapons (At once!) whether Captain or Boff. (I think it would be awesome if as an Edosian Captain you could wield 3 swords or 3 pistols at once) They should be highly resistant knocks (cause of the extra leg).

    I would also like an option where you could make Caitians look like Persians.

    There are more species I'd like to see, but I think these would be the most fun.
