Starting to fall in love with my Klingon

I didn't play my Klingon much before; I got him to 50 and abandoned him with mismatch set gear and sub-par weaponry. One day, I decided to look at the C Store stuff for the KDF. The Bio-neural Warhead and Quad disruptors looked pretty good, so I got them with a Guramba. I took it out to find a Red Alert, eager to test it.

First, I was impressed immensely with the quads. They appeared to scale a little better than their phaser counterpart. Then, I fired the Javelin. I got a hit of about 92k on a cube. "Sweet!", I thought as I looked at the numbers racking up with glee. Then, the warhead struck a sphere with an impact only matched by the shock I felt as I read 112,554 damage in bold yellow numbers. No TCD console and a bad spec job (recently corrected with a respec) made this even more appealing to me. After that, I started taking my ship into elite STF's. Within a day, I replaced all the low mark, mismatched equipment with MK XII weaponry and 3 borg plus KHG MK XII shields.

My interest in the KDF has found new life and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I can't believe the fun I'd been missing out on. Still not fond of all the red, though.

/end rave

One of the lower tier ships IIRC from the C-Store has a Plasmonic Leech Console. Really nice in giving extra power when using Energy Weapons. One of the best consoles out there, IMO.

Another thing I used to do with the lower level vessels similar tot he Garumba was throwing the Theta Radiation Gas-thingie Console, similar to Eject Warp Plasma ability. Using it the same way as I would EWP but not taking up an Engineer BOFF slot ability (IIRC, Garumba can't get EWP anyways? Too high tier of a skill?).

I don't have a Garumba, but if it was anything like the lower Tiered Nausicaan destroyers, then it indeed would be a wonderful ship. It just takes getting used to not having a cloak.

I guess the absence of a cloak doesn't bother me that much since I've been using my Fed the whole time. As far as the console, could I just use one from the lockboxes?

At first I thought, Klingon faction is really and extremely boring. My first plays in Qo'nos was like lost in unknown place. And my first spaceship was so weak...
But. Something made me interested. I played mission. Sometimes I played 2 or 3 times the same mission just for getting the loot. I got lvl 50 without end up all of the episode. I did it. I started to play normal stf with a vo'quv and I had good fun.
Now I'm in klingon fleet. I really enjoy to run stf with players from my fleet. Full team of klingon, we annihilate borgs:D
And... For the fun. My orion girl is really sexy even thought she doesn't wear bikini :P

I love my Gorn character. I made him a science officer thinking that probably most KDF players make a Tac or engineer so I wanted a different experience with the KDF. Oh man I love my sci Gorn! I feel like he's a battlemage in and out of ship. I suck at PvP with my Feds but I rock with my Gorn! I currently have him at lvl 50 in a Kar'fi carrier and I'm loving it can't get enogh only wish I had a Gorn sci ship carrier, with interiors to match, that would be awesome.

KDF content seems to be rather lacking. I want more stuff to do than STF's and the same episodes Feds have.

So far I'm really enjoying mine. I have a mismatched crew, little of all the races. So far I like this group of guys. And makes good fun. I kinda don't like using all one race/species. Even my Fed ship has a group of several different race/species. I like it enough I keep going back to play my Klingon.

i enjoy the game so much more on the Klingon side than i ever did on the fed side. and i was one of the lucky(or unlucky depending how you look at it)ones that started their Klingon after getting a silly fed to lvl 6. Glad you are having fun with it, now we just need more to realise what they are missing.

I too also find the KDF more fun, they while having just a shortage of content seem to attract quiet a bit of support. I really think that says a lot to their potential. I play my Federation characters really only to do some academy lore missions (for the dilithium) and sometimes to play with a friend who doesn't have a KDF or wishes for some help in leveling a Federation character, often though I play only my KDF characters as I find it a much more enjoyable experience.

Hegh'ta is much, much more fun than the Star Cruiser my Fed toon is having buyer's remorse over.

I feel like a fat man trying to kill things with a pointy stick every time I switch back to Fed side after playing my Scibop.

To be fair, that non-C-Store ship that is the Star Cruiser, is, IMHO, one of the toughest ships you can get a hold of. You don't need to spend C-Store points, just Dil, or more likely, your free token once a RAdm. That extra little Science BOFF slot makes a huge difference in making that ship rugged as hell.

Sometimes feels like you can hold off the world with that ship, but that's just me.

Oh, it's very, very sturdy. In Red Alerts I just park it on top of the tube ship.

Just compared to the DPS of the BOP it's really slow at killing things. :D

I love my Guramba, but I tried out the Bortas'qu 3 pack in tribble and I absolutely love it. I lean more to cruisers even though I don't use them quite as much escorts and that thing is an absolute death machine. Me want.

I too had a rough start with the KDF. I created a Gorn shortly after launch, you know back when they looked so...nonthreatening. I look at him now and I am reminded of a brooding alligator. I've come to enjoy the faction a great deal despite the sparse content compared to the fed faction.

The KDF faction has come a long way since launch. It started as a PVP only faction with nothing to look forward to but endless grinding. So much has been added and the addition of the Ferasans just go to show that the faction is growing and expanding. Don't listen to the doomsingers who harp on all the 'false promises'.

We even have out own podcast.

I am also loving the blood feud between the Ferasans and the Catians. So much story potential!

    I love my Science Gorn.

My Gorn and my crew look like leather bikers, literally. So yeah...bikers in space, that's fun!
But seriously, Klingon gameplay is so much fun with PvP, PvE, and everything and the fact that I feel like death raining from above from my Qorgh Raptor is always refreshing.
To be honest, I sort of wished I hadn't chosen science since science-oriented ships are almost always C-Store. I could go with a Bird of Prey but I'm liking Raptors and Cruisers better.

My original KDF toon is Science. When the game first came out, we only had the BOP to offer some sort of built centered on science. Not exactly the most sturdy platform for it, but that was our only route.

We have more options now, yes, but as you state, a true science vessel for the KDF is pretty much left to the C-Store. Except for the Vo'Quv carrier, but that's a really different hybrid altogether.
