I am not sure if this is the right forum but I am looking for others who are really working on this. Not people who are not so good who think they want it.
i,m in the same boat as you its the only optional i have left to do and it would be nice to have it. but every time i try to do it on my engineer nope gets screwed by a pug or some other stupid person
Best thing to do is join an in-game chat channel. Join the EliteSTF channel and type, "LFM IGE OPT."
Hopefully you'll get people that are experienced with the optional, but at the least, you'll get people trying to do the optional.
same here
you can get it just with team knows how to do half the time hy you fail is snipers start the timer the trick is get a shot gun run to where they are and knock them away
I found a bug with last one I almost had it came down to last one
I hop they change the system soon or at least update the store so pugs can get 12 there are jusy so many bad players
Once again, I have no idea if sean knows what he's talking about. Running in with a shotgun BEFORE killing off the drone packs with snipers or other long range weapons is the quickest way to fail it I know of.
Elite ground optionals were never, imo, designed to be puggable. KA was, likely isn't anymore. That doesn't stop them finishing the run of course, so there's no reason pugs can't get Mk12 gear, which I think is what he's talking about at the end there.
Joining EliteSTF isn't a bad idea. You may not get the optional immediately through an ESTF run but you should get it. Mail @tilarta if you want an invite to the channel. Alternatively, check the link in my sig.
Having trouble with ground STFs? Looking for help?

I think he's talking about the 2/3 rush strategy. I believe he's suggesting you can stop the crew members from getting assimilated by hitting/pushing away the drones with a shotgun. I've only seen it work well in normals.
The only reason a pug would not be able to get the Mk12 gear would be if they were so bad that they couldn't finish. Which I've seen several times, especially in Cure ground.

Which kinda surprises me, the 15 Minutes Timer is a non-issue, so no need to rush at all.
Be aware of the triggerpoints, and you already do it 80% right, only the rooms with 2 Assimilated at once can be tricky if not played well.

If you're idea of strategy is rushing in like Leeroy Jenkins you've probably never heard of trigger lines.
I've seen so many people who think you sit back with a sniper rifle and pick everyone off before going into the room. Then they are shocked when they run out of of time. I guess it's 'guides' like this that started that rumor.
Well here's the scoop. To get this optional you have to be quick. Going in with shotguns is about the most effective, unless you are in a premade team and eveyone knows their roles.
While I am not looking to refute that shotgun-assaulting the assimilators works, I do want to note that the majority of my optional completions in PuGs of IGE pulled rooms with snipers/range without hitting trigger lines and completed with at least a couple minutes to spare every time.
Time running out is only an issue, in my opinion, when people don't get how to shut down Heavy Tactical or Elite drones, die a lot, and/or are doing low DPS with no utility for whatever reason.
Really the majority of the failed optionals I've seen have been within the first three officers as a result of early triggers or plain not knowing what's goin' on. It's unclear if rushing or sniping would've been the superior strategy in a lot of my PuG runs as the timer goes away (and I don't sit there and time them myself), so I don't know at what point we reach the last room.

On Elite, everytime I've gotten the optional, it was using the snipe/trigger line method. Using the shotgun method I've never been with a team that got the optional.

Everytime I've been with a group who sits back and snipes we run out of time. Every single time. No exceptions. Even running in with the shotgun you can be pressed for time.

equal parts cynical and helpful

Some teams do over-snipe, for example, sniping the pack at the back of the room in room 4 or pulling the elite out in room 5.
