This idea was once brought up on the old forums, but I'm posting it again here with some additional images. Just wondering what the Dev's official word is on this?
For those who don't know, Doug Drexler was a Visual Effects Artist involved with the various Star Trek TV series for several years.

It's supposed to have a bit of a retro look due to the era where it comes from, and the "experimental" (NX) nature of the design. It is afterall a stepping stone between ENT and TOS.
Additionally, the design would have appeared sometime during the Romulan War, which could account for its "rushed" prototype appearance.
What do you think? Could this possibly be added someday?

Seeing how it's taken Them almost a YEAR to get the Aventine to a point where it "Might" be in game...
I can't imagine Them wanting to pursue something like this.
Though "I Personally" would pay 2000 ZP's to be able to fly it In-Game.
I'm hoping in a year or two They decide to set up a TOS through TMP Exclusive Era Server...
This would be a Perfect Ship for that.

And if they did add it, surely it would be a Utopia-Refit and probably added to Tier 2.
Though... that "Exclusive Era" server is sounding better all the time.

That would pretty much have to be a completely separate game.
Just new ships and new missions. game engine and mechanics can stay the same.
heck some of the art work is already in game.

Would've been, if they got the funds for a Season 5. Which is ashame because they were planning of having the refit tied in with the Romulan War.
I wouldn't mind seeing this one in game, but it won't happen.
...they shouldn't have made the "Enterprise" series in the first place.
I'm hoping you mean as the refit, because that was the same ship / CGI model that was used in the show. :P
And they purposely made it not to look like a typical Federation Cruiser to give a feel of evolution as the show progressed. The idea of the Secondary Hull being added to the NX was to be adding more warp power to fight the Romulans.
Wish the ENT tv series would have gotten the chance to show this in season 5.
Ah well, at least the game is still alive. :cool:
By the time something like this could come around, there'd be plenty of already added assets from this server to start out with...
It would not be a snap to do, but it would certainly (IMO) be a money maker.
Imagine being able to recreate the Battle with the M-5 Computer from "The Ultimate Battle"...
Or having three Klingon D-7's go up against a TOS Connie...
Or actually being able to attempt to save the actual Kobayashi Maru with a TMP Enterprise.
It would also be a perfect opportunity for Cryptic to begin to create a playable Romulan Faction...
By adding a Romulan Player toon Creator and just the basic Romulan BOP...
Again, several of the assets are already in game.
They could start simple and develop it over the long term, eventually being able to port appropriate parts of it over to the original server.

If it meant that the main server was limited to TNG+ ships? Go for it.
However, given the way the Klingons have reacted to the "start simple" approach, do you really think that this suggestion wouldn't just result in a ton more whinging, complaining, and hassle for the devs? Do you really think it would stop TOS fans from b****ing about a T5 Connie? Unless there was absolutely equivalent amounts of content in each "world", plenty of TOS/TMP-fans would still hang about on the main game, and they would still make it their mission to attempt to nag Cryptic to distraction.

Yes but on a TOS / TMP server you would be looking at the TOS connie being something like tier 3 with the miranda being tier 2 or maybe even teir 2.5 or possibly 3.
i could see it now with all ships being TMP styled

miranda / connie tier 3 ect.. ect...
course the tier system is so stupid and needs to be completely gotten rid of.

(Similar to "Shuttle-Only" missions)
I imagine the STF would also be set in an event from the TMP movie series. Perhaps some time traveler has decided to alter events, and The Guardian of Forever sends us back to stop them (but in a period specific ship).
Possible STF maps could range from:
-Players vs Beefed up Reliant from Wrath of Khan
-Players vs Whale Probe from Voyage Home
-Romulan War STF based on Enterprise Series
-Players vs beefed up BoP from Undiscovered Country
-Players vs God Creature from Final Frontier
A small voice over cameo could be included for mission specific instructions for
whichever relevant STF scenario is picked. Doesn't have to be a major actor, but someone whom Cryptic can afford, yet was still present in either the movies or the ent series.
I don't think these one off parts should be STF's make them more unique and different. Make them stuff we haven't seen before. Like the romulan war, Earth/Kzin (or Ferasan in this case) war, a Mirror Universe incident, yadda yadda yadda...
We can now tell the stories of the big events that we've never seen. So why not says I?
