i want to play some pareces squares if u know what im sayin dog
This was talked about before, and it's possible someday could be playable beyond the current DOFF mission. The main problem is figuring out the basics of how the game is played, then making it done in a way that's playable in STO.
And of course, the Devs would want to have the game mean something. So they would have to make a mission around it, then develop an infrastructure to have it replayable for years to come.
They should definitely include it. My friends and I sometimes set up a game on the weekends and it's super fun. I broke my toe on the corner-board last weekend so I'm out for a good month, but I'll still help them set up the court as that is a task in itself.
As mentioned, before we make it playable, we'd have to figure out wtf it even is. And no matter what we decided on, a bunch of people would tell us we got it wrong. . .
I think Poker, and/or 3D Chess are more likely*, but I would love to see Parrises squares too!
*please note, nothing here is a promise, I'm simply stating the likelihoods as I see them.

Even if you knew what the rules and playing field really looked like, I suspect that the odds are very high that it would be difficult or impossible to simulate in STO.
From the sound of it, I would guess that a close analogue of the game might be a weird form of lacrosse involving regulated movement over a three-dimensional playing field and a ball knocked around at relatively high velocities. What purpose the 'squares' have, I can't do more than guess.
If you did nothing more than try to simulate a baseball, basketball, or hockey game in STO, which would be less complicated, you'd still need new mechanics for interacting with objects in motion that we haven't seen in any Cryptic game yet.
I think a lot of people would be happy if we just got Poker.

Just take the attitude of Apple, Facebook, and Blizzard. Say soothing things to your fans, then totally stab them in the back or TRIBBLE them over and do what you want. They'll get over it after a period of crying.

They already are.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

Yes, but it was perfected by Microsoft.

Lol, Microsoft can't really perfect anything. Outside of the Enterprise environment they are mostly playing catch up. And even in the enterprise environment they are playing catching on a lot of things.

indeed.
Most of the Trek games lack any real detail on their rules. getting them "wrong" would be easy.
Some are so simple, you can't get them wrong. Like B'aht Qul, ie two arme arm wrestling. but B'aht Qul is in the Doffs, most likely because they (Cryptic) couldn't figure out how to do it in game.

1. It is a physical sport.
2. It involves "Parece Mallets"
3. Players usually get injured while playing.
4. Harry Kim was a three-year running champion when he went to the academy.
I'd rather see more minigames along the lines of dilithium mining.

Ah, he implemented the disclaimer.
Well lets brainstorm, shall we? We know that Parrises Squares:
You are on a Team of 4 people, with one Subsitution
There are 2 Teams
The game is involved a Ramp, where you are high enough to be injured if you fell.
Requires an Ion Mallet.
You need Padded outfits
So I could see you fight on a platform about 3 meters above the ground, where the mallet is involved in catching a particle ball of some sort and you use it to hit to another member of your team. And you're objective is get it to the other side. (I.E. Lacrosse on elevated platforms).
Another possibility is that it's a type of dodgeball and where teams rush up accending ramps and you are being shot with energy balls, where you can use the mallets to deflect it towards your opponent, trying to knock them off.

my best guess is that it's something like Go or Reversi Aka Othello ...
I say it should be like Shuttlecock Soccer except replace the shuttlecock with a photon grenade that detonates if it hits the ground, removing a "Pareses Square" tile from the field ala Discs of Tron.

well lets take a look... it can result in death when X player falls off w/e their standing on. ... teams have 4 players... involves some form of melee combat...
So... its melee pvp on some platform.. if you fal off your out/dead.

Or you have to listen to klingon accordions. Make it more interesting.

Want to know a game that really truly has no set of rules?
There was a TOS episode where a man walks into his house and asked his wife what she was playing. She was holding a hand of circular cards and replied "Double Jack".
To this day, nobody has been able to make any form of rules for this fictional card game that doesn't already exist among the dozens of other card games out there.
