What an offensive post....

Too bad there is no way to quickly report that person. Now it requires hunting down a post from PWE_Branflakes, clicking on the "contact" link, posting a link to the post in question, and explaining why we find it offensive.

Is this going to be the way it works going forward or is the "report" button on the way?

Side note, if someone is on our ignore list, have they been granted a reprieve due to the forum system change?

Hoping to have a report post button back soon :) You can send me a forum PM if that is easier, but I won't be able to provide a reply. As for ignores, they don't extend from the game to the forums at this time -- it's something else I like to reintroduce if it's possible.

    Cheers,

From the little amount of time I spent looking at the other PW forums, I have yet to see a single report icon.

    Very surprised about that.

You stay logged in as you go across the forums so if the report feature was there, you should see it.

Right :( None of the PWE forums have them... yet :D It's a goal of mine, but not sure if it's technically possible with this version of the forums. Also looking into how we can upgrade the version, but no ETA on if/ when.

Maybe they'll keep their heads down this time....

Colored removed. Please kindly remember that posting in a dark color on a dark background makes it very hard for some folks to read.

Some of the (edit: added) other PW boards have avatars that include data from the game. At least that's what the reasoning was that we were giving previously.

I hope it wasn't one of mine... then again some may find the need of things that the KDF needs some find offensive for them to have it LOL.

Other than that though I do not go out of my way to offend people but sometimes I might come off as offensive especially when I cannot fathom why someone would do or say something that was obviously unwanted or unneeded.

Does not seem very fair though since we are now on PWE's system, and some people may have potentially had a PWE account for years and had a spotless record.

Still, people must still follow rules on PWE forums, and people who cannot behave on PWE's forums definitely should be banned.

I was under stress from finals during this past freshman year of college (j/k).... :P But in all seriousness those people who were banned are able to make new accounts like the rest of us were forced to in the merge. So from a certain point of view they are still banned...but yeah I saw a "I'm going to sue you" thread this week. :P

But yeah, we need a report function back on this site as a reminder that some things should never be tolerated.

The STO forum may be more active than their other games. (speculation based on IP popularity)

They told us to forget about our avatars. We took that as a challenge.

Yes this is what happens when star trek fans get together, beginning with letter writing campaigns of the sixties. PWE wants happy customers. They will not know that we are unhappy with something unless we make it known. I know that some of us sent email and snail mail to anyone and everyone, all up and down the line.

Brandon is the real superstar that put it over the top. If there is just ONE person to plant a big slobbery kiss on, for the avatars return, it's him. He rocks.

Forgive my ignorance when it comes to forum software, but I was under the impression that a report button was a basic feature off all of these programs. Am I mistaken, or does PW run on a homegrown forums program?

Color removed. Friendly reminder that posting in a dark color on a dark background is a bad idea.

It's Vbulletin. Not sure if it comes as standard but I;ve seen it on all of the other vBulletin boards I use.

I;ve seen 6 posts today that I would have reported.

Then PM one of us. (Brandon, Myself and I'm sure Alecto is okay with it too!) Just don't expect a reply as we can't discuss anything we do moderation wise. :)

Brandon has said he's looking into the possibility of it coming back. It is by default enabled in vBulletin, however PWE has disabled it for good reasons (apparently people were using it for spam etc).

It's bad enough that I have to jump through hoops to read about a third of the posts here. I'm not jumping through hoops to send in a report when I shouldn't have to. My experience with the PW GMs have so far been less than stellar as well.

And yes I realize that you;re stuck in the middle of this.

Of course I'm still pissed about not being able to access the foundry.

As in spamming the mods? Cost of doing business I'm afraid. Unless their using the report function to send spam away from the forums. That would be an issue.

If spam reports is a problem, couldn't they just take that function away from those particular users?

On another forum I use (fan made), they had an issue with one poster making offensive/trolling comments and then spamming the report button on anyone who said anything against him stating that they were "attacking him personally." Later on one of the mods said that they removed the ability for that poster to report any posts at all, but the rest of us still had that function. They use vBulletin 4.0.6, so I don't know if that can be done here since this forum is using an old version of vBulletin 3.7.1. Might be something to look into though.

Sorry, but I just want to point out that in both cases someone changed the color, there was no problem viewing it. This last one was a bright indigo color which was perfectly visible.

    Which browser are you using?

Well that's you. Not everybody has 20/20 vision or can pick up contrasts between colors with a dark color beside another dark color.

That makes sense. My color vision is perfect so I have no idea what colors are hard to see on black and which are not.

Color change other than for making data easier to digest is pointless in my opinion. I always stick with the default.

I was just curious why you couldn't see them. I apologize for any offense.
