in the last two weeks I opened what seems to be around 200 boxes.
But the outcome is about 11 holonovels, dozen or so armor/deflector packs and some useless fighters/pets, skill packs etc.
Nothing useful as if theta console or well may be even d'kora... out of a 200 packs.
Normally I open them in batches of 30 - 60 at a time. And if last week after opening 30 boxes I got 9 holonovels, then today after 60 boxes I only got 3 holonovels.
I just wonder what are the actual odds of getting something useful from the packs and can it be increased?
I do understand that cryptic is moving to the doff packs business model as the lock boxes don't even drop that much anymore...

Welcome to the World of RNG.
The odds are unknown (there are projects which try to find out though), chances are always the same, and there is nothing you can do to increase them.
Since you opened 200 Boxes, it means you had 200 Keys.
Let me ask you something: What did you want from the Boxes anyway?
Lobis were "cheap" (in comparison) via Gamma Packs last weeks.
D'Kora to fly -> 200 Keys give you way more EC, than you needed to buy one of the exchange.
D'Kora to sell on Exchange -> Points for 200 Keys converted to Dilithium give way more EC (buy material and sell and/or craft stuff and sell)
I don't understand why you paid so much, and didn't know "how", sorry.
You're just dumb u even spill ur money on those keys.
I know the guy from a lot of regular grouping together.
He opened them with ECs alone, because he already purchased 2 Dkoras and 2 Bugships and probably has nothing else worth spending his Scrooge McDuck ECs on.
As far as I know he mostly did it, just to open them and see what it would be worth.

See above. He probably pulls in 30 mill a day off working the exchange.
That doesn't mean the boxes are still dropping though. That just means folks are opening up the ones that they already have.
Mystery packages are still be awarded at the end of each stf. I don;t think the boxes are dropping any more though.
the cardassian boxes are no longer dropping, however the d'Kora's Ferengi boxes are. when one lockbox starts, the previous one ends.
however the prizes are still hardcoded into what type of lockbox it is, so people who buy the cardassian lockboxes cannot get d'kora's instead of galors.
P.S. Op are you opening Greens or Purple lockboxes? the purple AKA gold ones net a higher rate for the ships and better items.
You're just dumb u even spill ur money on those keys.
In the time u've been fooling around with those lockboxes/keys etc u couldve grinded up 69~ Million EC by now and got a D'kora off the exchange..
stop whining and use your brain for once.
A crude way to put it, but I agree. People need to stop buying keys for these. A Chinese company doesn't understand that what works over there doesn't translate into working for the Americas..

Nah I just opened them cause I'm getting bored with the game. thought it could be fun. well it wasnt'. May be I should get some gear and go kick some arrogant panda backsides... may it would be fun...
I wanted the lobis for the ferengi set. Boxes are still cheaper way of getting lobis. I think the odds for lobis has been corrected, cause I consistenly get around 200 lobis per 30 or so boxes. median price of keys on exchange 800k ec, so that's 24M ec total, 30M to round up.
You get 10 lobis per GQ/Rec doff pack that are roughly 5M on exchange, so total 20 doff packs gonna cost around 100M.
That's basic math, and they teach it in school these days... Well, may be not anymore.
Need to mentioned that this was in fact an experiment and I just published my result as well as my general dissatifaction.
I also opened 20 gq doff packs. Didn't even get a purple doff out of it. Something like 5 blues and all were useless. The rest are whites. Now to be honest why are there white doffs in the doff packs at all I wonder?
Other thing if the gold boxes are so rare (I get them roughly 1 out of a 100 of mystery boxes) then the reward for gold boxes should be adjusted, let's say 100 lobis for a gold box. I opened 10 or gold boxes during the experiment and generally got 5 lobis and a ground pet or 2k cxp as useful as they are.
Is another rant really required? Save your energy for the next locked box
Well, last rant was heard thankfully, so now we're not consistently spammed with lock boxes. As you typical STF "oh! may be this drop is the lolaron accx3 that I been waiting for? gosh... not another lock box"...
Seriously every civilised society got some sort consumer protection institution that actually has some power over the merchant to avoid plain and consistent scams. Not in this game thou, where we at the mercy of the owners, that create "wanted" items and then push a lottery with an undisclosed odds.

lesson learned; U know how to make EC the easy way, a 2/3 weeks grinding, possible less will definately get u 69~M ec.
so whats the big deal?
Cya.
.....with plenty left over to equip it to the 9's

He's ground up at least 5x as much or more, as I explained above.
See above. He probably pulls in 30 mill a day off working the exchange.
Again, no it isn't.
Why would they increase the odds, judging by how much you've spent on them I'd say they're doing perfectly fine with the odds as is.

This is not correct. I still see Galors getting awarded.
As well off as they'd be if you were volunteering instead of reading and posting in the forums?;)
