Well Its sad to me to hear people claim no one pvps. I only know pvpers, and i logged today mid afternoon, hardly peak time, with 60 people on my friends list online. And 180 in opvp chat. Surely I dont kwo everyone, and every pvper isnt in the opvp chat. I believe we are drastically underestimating the numbers of pvpers.

Im guessing at least 1000+ active players weekly.

The smallest minority is those pvpers who use the forums..... of those there are likely only a few hundred :/

when they say almost no one pvps, they have to be looking at only the ground numbers. there is constantly space games running, and as soon as a game ends and i que up again, theres usually only 1 of the same players from the last match present. i know the majority of the players are a bunch of pve only carebears, but there always seems to be plenty of people in the space ques

I understand PWE numbers are 20%... assuming 50k paying subs. (or 40k subs and 10k cstore spenders) that puts your estimate pretty close to bang on Mini. I would agree with that around 1k or so give or take a few hundred seems about right.

Of course having said that in comparison to many other mmos that is an extremely small group.

I think we are hard on ourselves a bit though... I believe (and it is just a belief) STO has one of the better paying groups of PvPers in MMO land. We are the ones that will spend $25 for a new ship when it dropps... we will (as much as I hate to admit it) throw our cash into the ship lottos. No one needs a Bug ship for PvE... people throw money at the chance to get one cause its a good pvp ship.

I have no doubt that we (PvPers) in general likely account for for more then our 20% numbers in terms of revenue. PWE would be crazy to not try to exploit the market... lets also be honest the lock box idea... as much as we all moan... every single one of us has spent at least a few bucks... many of us have grabbed new carriers mvams ect... I don't even want to guess how much extra money I have spent on respecs in 2 years time.

The fact that we are not that big a group isn't the bad thing most people seem to think... 20% in numbers perhaps but I doubt we are only 20% of the revenue.

Participation should be counted in # of abilities fired, force applied to keyboard, curses flung at the screen and palm sweat produced! This is the true test of participation per quality! On this sscale, pvp accounts for at least 80% of the population!

In the other thread someone claimed the PvP population was about 0.2 % of the playerbase. No source given there, though.

    Gozer is the source

eh, ground can be fairly active. Granted, there's less people so you get into matches with the same people, but the queues are fairly quick. If there's 8-12 people running around, the queues are instant to a minute before they start. If there's 13 or more, it can take a bit of time to get things going.

Unless you're a Klingon, it takes literally days to get a ground game going on that faction, because I seem to be the only KDF player who tries to do pug matches. Everyone else premades against Captain Kirks.
