The only Enterprise class ship not currently playable is the Ambassador Class. See TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" for details of the Enterprise-C. I want it included in the game- do you?
Don't care about it myself.
On the other hand, another oldie that should not be in service anymore, especially not at T5. and do we really need another t3 ship?
This has been asked for ad nausium on the old forums. Personally, I too would like to see it. I would also like to see an alternate skin using Probert's original concept model. Could be call the Probert Class.
It isn't even the only ship that bore the "Enterprise" name which is canon and NOT playable.
It isn't the only canon ship that isn't playable.
It isn't a playable "Enterprise class" ship.
Where did I lose you?

That is true, but has nothing to do with the OP's point: the Ambassador is the only ship that was an Enterprise that isnt playable. The fact that there are other canon ships that arent playable has nothing to do with that point.

Both of yall are correct. The Enterprise J is also canon and not in game. Seeing as the J is still much further in the future then STO, it will make even less sense for it than the older ships.
Now that Akira has been rolled out, looks like Ambassador is next up to bat (in terms of popularity). Seems to be pretty neck n' neck with the Sovy. But remember, what the fans want most of the time makes no difference to the Devs. They go through the motions regardless.
Wont these threads die already? Dstahl recently said it IS coming, and will have a storyline built around it. Im sure to its fan that cant come soon enough, I understand that, but its own story seems cool. My money says Cryptic will have us go after THE Enterprise C, since Tasha Yar survived to be taken hostage and whored out, that means the hull of the C could have survived. We go in to take back the hull. I recall one foolish Romulan say he'd hang the hull of the D on Romulus, maybe he already knew the C was secretly on display somewhere?
If its NOT the Enterprise C they have in mind for the special story, then the story cant be THAT exciting.
NOT having the Ambassador class available all this time flies in the face of Cryptic's logic, imagine that, where they said all the old hull designs were still of value and new ships with new wiring should still be created. The Constitution of all designs is still of value, but no value could be found for a beefier Ambassador class design as canon fodder for all the Federations enemies?
I use to think the C was the ugliest sister of the Enterprise ladies, but that honor now goes to the F, and her beer belly.
If Cryptics ship designers are too scared to come up with some original Fed designs, because they always talk about how comfortable they feel with alien designs, then Cryptic should hire THE Star Trek ship designers to fill out the portfolio for NEW ships, instead of rehashing these old designs.
The Federation needs to get serious, and be on the cutting edge of ship design, instead of relying on old designs. And if Admiral Quinn is holding us back, he needs to retire. And who the hell is the Federation President anyways? Out playing golf with Holodeck Obama instead of making sure Utopia Planitia is working on start of the art designs instead of pushing out old stuff?

I'd love to see the Enterprise-J's class, but I expect it will never grace STO.
Getting back to the original point- I want the Ambassador class because it is the only other class that an Enterprise has been a member of, that has not been made available in game.
As to whether or not it "belongs"- we have NX-Class vessels as well as Constitution and Refit-Constitution classes- all classes retired before or during the ST:TNG timeline, so I suggest that timeline issues are really not important, for the same reason I suspect the Enterprise from the JJ Abrams movie will be in here sometime.
CBS does not own the rights to the JJ Enterprise so they can not give Cryptic/PWE permission to use it. As long as Paramount is using the ship, I do not see CBS getting permission from Paramount.
It should be noted that the "J" was just a possibility in a possible future timeline. There is no guarantee that that exact ship is built in the "prime" timeline.

I'd love to see it as a tier 3. I would like more lower level ships. I enjoy leveling toons up and would like a better selection below decks to use during that time.

He didnt say only *ship*, he said "enterprise class ship". And it obviously isnt an "enterprise class", but the point is the same.

How about an alien (Saurian) engineering ship before another science. I agree with the Andorian escort.
