Looks like Season 6 is going to make dilth grinding harder.
I hear that turn in Contrandand is being nerfed -
from costing 3 contraband on a 2hr mission to - 5 contraband on a 4 hr misson
Pugging STF will be a bigger nightmare than now with ever Tom, D.i.c.k, and Harry jumping in to get the elite dilth of 1100 per run - could have a lot more campers show up to - just sitting there and doing nothing.
Dilithium is easy to get if you run the right cycle of dailies and put a little effort in, the contraband method was just a lazy way of doing it quickly with minimal effort like the foundry daily that can be done by interacting with one console.

Easy to get if you have 1 toon - what about 6 - that takes a lot of time without the contraband and the dailies
3x contra mission+Officer investigation daily+ lore = 8k
Are there any other ultra quick dailes that I am missing? Like the console investigation?
Or the two in Orellius to rescue defari Captives.
One is a ten minute (tops) run through the mines with a total of 4 groups of enemies.
The other is just talking to the enemy ship (if done right)
You can't turn a corner in STO without earning dilithium. It's ridiculously easy to get and the only thing to really spend it on is CP, unless you have a carrier. Even for carrier captains you have a handful of options for one-time purchases.
The whole contraband thing was ridiculous income anyway. I'm fine with slowing that down, like I was fine with the Ker'rat farm nerf. Now all we need are some worthwhile sinks to give dilithium some value other than CP exchange.
I always get a laugh at the "Cryptic is manipulating the dilithium market" conspiracy theorists. Of course dilithium will be worth less on the exchange when it is so readily available and there is virtually nothing else to do with it except buy CP.
The Fleet Starbase upgrades are going to cost Dilithium, with the intention that they're going to be a major dilithium sink.
Basically, it's very likely that the conversion rate between Cryptic Points is going to change pretty drastically come season 6. You can expect a lot of people to start buying points to convert to dilithium in order to fund their base upgrades... so if you're grinding dilithium and want to convert it into CPoints for some reason, you may want to hold onto it and don't convert it to points until season 6 hits and the prices for dilithium skyrocket.
I find dilithium very handy for getting non-borg gear at max level.
I have a full set of borg MK XI weapons on my escort, and am slowly making my way through getting a parallel set for pvp. Also, consoles, ground weapons/gear, etc.
I also don't bother 'farming dilithium,' I just do stuff I find fun and the dilithium comes fast enough for me.
(Pro-MMO-tip: if you aren't having fun doing whatever you are doing, stop. Do something else. The point is having fun, and there are very few situations where not doing something fun for a protracted time is going to make your fun THAT MUCH BETTER later)
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Starfleet Academy quiz: 480 (2 minutes)
Officers Foundry Missions (Naga Distress Calls): 1,440 (8-10 minutes)
Transwarp to K7 and do the 3 Dailies in Eta Eridani: 1,440 (15 minutes)
Several times a month I also do the Core Fragments Daily there for another 1,440.
3 Deferi Dailies: 2,400 (25 minutes)
Transwarp to GO and head to B'tran. There I do Vice Admiral Daily and Strange New World: 2,880 (10-20 minutes)
That gives me 8,640
When I want to keep it under an hour I cut-out the 3 Eta Dailies. That leaves me at 7,200. I usually have enough DOFF Dilithium to make that around 8,000.
I do that on 3 alts every day in about 3 hours. So I'm usually acquiring 21-26k per day.
A handy guide for farming quickly.
On a side note, if you run enough stfs and turn in salvage for dilithium, you can quickly build up a reserve of dilithium ore which can help.
Yeah can't wait till everything cost more. I like the idea of a fleet base but it seems its gonna throw the economy into a spin and race for resources. I still find it funny that a show that isn't about money at all has a game that is dangerously becoming all about money.

If you can come up with a system that eliminates currency patent it. Because i have yet to see a game that can get away without having currency while not sucking.

Funny, this is nearly the exact thing people said right after they completely eliminated the repeatable war zone missions. At the time I didn't mind, thinking they were just making it daily instead, but then I found that Mazka or whoever never gives you the mission again. I wonder how long it will be until they start using the very things people list in here as easy dilithium for ideas on what else to eliminate?
Just set up a private capture and hold match with the points set as 50, let one side capture, it will be over in no time. Make sure you have Mackenzie Calhoun's pvp mission, and LTC Icheb's mission too if its not on cooldown.
I currently have probably 400-500K dilithium spread out over 6 characters.
But it would be reasonably easy, I think, to pool them in the Dilithium exchange and extract it back out for whatever I needed.
You put them up for sale at the most advantageous rate possible (worst that can happen is you get a pile of CP) and then cancel the sale. Theoretically they will remain banked in the exchange. Rinse and repeat. Then draw Dil from the exchange as needed.
I've got a character I want to get rid of, so I'll probably test this out eventually.
If it works, you earn Dilithium wherever you want and then pool it where you need it.

I'd love to see the official source stating dilithium rewards are getting reduced.
It's been on Tribble since June 7th.
It's not reducing the Dilithium, it's slightly increasing the number of items you need to turn in, that's all.
here's the release notes stating that: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=273070
It's just a matter of time before the changes hit Holodeck, kinda surprised they havn't already.
But, on the other hand, reducing that one single source of Dilithium really isn't going to make that much of a difference in the grind.

I've tried this method. In order to get it to work correctly, you have to withdraw the dilithium in the exchange, into your alts personal balance, every time. Then put the new total back into the exchange and repeat for each one.
if you dont then the dilithium you put in the exchange comes out of the exchange balance not the alts personal balance.
If it works, you earn Dilithium wherever you want and then pool it where you need it.
I do it all the time, so ya, it works that way.
Just don't forget two things:
You may only have 5 Trades up all the time, so you have to cancel them frequently if you have lot of chars to pool.
And always set a rather low amount of Dili for CP (e.g. give 50Dili for 1 CP) so you don't loose anything.
It's actually another (very) slow way of increasing your depots (buy CP cheap, sell high).

A couple other things for Dilithium, I find that if you do the recruitment missions at SFA and then dismiss them once complete thats around another 1200 Dilithium.
If you do the Relocate Colonist mission thats 500D and if you get a Crit Success on it that is 1500D
Again that's really dilithium for nothing.
As for spending dilithium anybody that has the Galor, they have just added the Spiral Disruptors to the D-Store
I have two entire fleets of alts
we are currently holding in excess of 250k dilith
all destined for the star bases we must build
This is the thing, I hope they increase the cap for when the starbases come in as I myself on my main have 120k that I can't refine because I make more than 8k a day.
This topic that has intrigued me for sometime why on earth have dilthium at all since clearly they don't want us to grind it for a couple of reasons one the limit of 8000 per day and the other is the pathetic rewards we get ingame and on top of all that you can't find it anywhere in the sto universe other than via mission dailies or doff assignments its a complete waste of time. Before anyone says you can spread that over multiple toons well for one thats as boring as hell and two I and other people have better things to do than grind on X amount of toons for dil.
Here is a simple solution:
1) Get rid of dil across the board especially with crafting since you already pay with samples
2) Make dil more easily grindable by getting rid of the refine limit and making it easier to find within the ingame universe other than dailies. Compared to other games grinding in sto is a bit like trying to get blood out of a stone and its not fun its tedious and boring.

I agree that they need to remove it from Crafting, I done loads of crafting for my toons and my friends/fleet mates - but since they put dilithium in it really isn't worth the effort unless you want sell and get EC.
The cap as mentioned really needs to go, but I suspect that they won't remove it as you can convert it to CP and they wouldn't want that - essentially you could get every item in the C-Store for free by just grinding out dilithium without a cap.
