Will you attain Chuck Norris levels of awesomeness after downing flasks of whiskey, or will you end up
like this?
The funny thing is getting drunk can sometimes boost gaming performance, like the time I was playing the flight sim IL-2 Sturmovik online with an Aussie squadron and they had someone in a yellow
Fw-190 which kept getting shot down by the Russian players (guess why).
After a few six packs of beer one night though, that yellow bird became an utter beast hunting down
La5s like Odo catching crooks on DS9.
That was the only time I could justify that drinking improves (simulated) combat flight
So does it work in STO? Or will we see an Odyssey sized accident on DS9 when it tried to launch through a pair of Negh'vars as shown on Jalopnik?

At least when you play a MMO drunk you do not have to explain why you parked your BMW on top of a Jag and a Merc to a judge or your insurance adjuster. Besides if you drink too much and start to lose while drunk you really do not care at all anyways, (at least I don't), and can at least talk trash off to the side on the OPvP channel.
Well for me i must admit i do sometimes like to sitdown and relax with a couple of beers while playing STO, i only usually have 2 though when i do fancy a beer when playing, because that for me is just a nice balance . . you get the destroy that fellow attitude while still retaining the ability to effectively command your ship (Of course i take a breath mint on the bridge, i don?t want my crew knowing i?m nipping off to my readyroom for a quick ?Sniffter? from the hip flask).
Anyhow, i think there is an experiment in this, i say we all get a couple of six packs . . set up a PvP and have at each other . . after every beer sunk we?ll evaluate our performance . . lol . . . I?ll be the one trying to actually get to the nebular in the backdrop of the instance because it looks pretty.
This sounds like solid fun.
coming to a town near you!
Start playing, enter any STF, Fleet, PVP.
Say right at the start: "I better be drunk when I fly!"
Drink any kind of your choice of alcohol, but don't start fighting before glass/bottle/box/shoe is empty.
Start fighting like crazy .. I mean klingon.
Have fun fighting!
If you win, drink anotehr one, if you loose, drink two.
Repeat until your ships starts shaking or you do, whatever happens first (don't try flying a shaking ship while you're shaking!).
Please contact your doctor before drinking klingon tea!
Could be fun
I can't say it ever improved my gameplay, in fact I can think of a few wipes directly related to my state of inebriation.
I have yet to experience STO at a similar level of intoxication. It might be fun to try though. Whats the worst that can happen...

Mustrum "Question may be, do they still know how it is sober or is that what keeps them around?" Ridcully
I used to captain four sheets to the wind, (two Four Locos inside half an hour tend to do that), and aside from when I chatted most did not even know I had any liquid courage in me.
Behold my suprise the next afternoon (a lot of JD was drank) when I discovered my ship kitted out in the Borg STF gear I drink playing this game sometimes and you know what, its fun
Vice Admiral Dir Sonatra, I.R.W. Kholairlha, Scimitar Class Warbird
Vice Admiral Oshin S'ree, USS Steamrunner, Steamrunner Class
TEN FORWARD FLEET
before very long you are less effective and less intelligent
and before you fall over you are damaging yourself
NEVER Drink and fly
Its a fine line. I came in to Ker'rat oneday UTI, was all clusterf'ed in my flight and tactics due to too much fun and got a scathing reprimand from StarDagger for flying like an idiot.
It was a sobering experience.
Then I got more beer and had another hand-rolled cigar

Awesome quote!
Chuck Norris couldn't even aspire to a droplet of awesome if he tried.
HEck, I flew a rainbow beam ship well into VA (NO, I didnt take it into STFs) just because FAW3 with a rainbow ship looks AMAZING !
LOL, that's awesome! . . i laught to myself with the image of you happily flying around minding your own business . . Medicating as you go, only to be attacked . . *face palm* . . "This is heavy man" . . sigh . .
Fantastic
It wasn't ... "this is heavy man ... sigh ..." it was ...
Flying around (JUST as you describe) when a random player invited me to a private challenge.
I was all ....
"Seriously ? Right now ? Well of course we intend to resist you, just give us a moment alright"
Turn away. "Prep" for the battle. Turn back. Level my sword at them.
"Now ... we are prepared to resist you."
Yes, I liked the Disney version of the 3 Muskateers. Because Oliver Platt is awesome.
LOL, even better if it was a private challange, i liked the ?preperation? for battle before accepting, to give extra focus and planning ability, i still say that should be a boff power ha ha.
I?ve only had one challange all this time, some random guy in Memory alpha, i had to decline because at that time i would have been better throwing rocks at him, my build was in no state to fight . . i would have popped more than corn. this time though i?m ready
It's not the ship shaking, it's the space around it!
One whole keg for every officer.
...Probably need to hide those before the next inspection.
