This is going on a week now, I either cant launch the game or when I get in and play if I try to transfer maps I get Server not Responding and get kicked off, what has happened? I see other posts of similar things happening to other players and there doesnt seem to be any response from Cryptic. If you want us all to leave and stop paying thats your business, I will say tech support got back to me and gave me some solutions but after that they gave up and said wait for a patch maybe? I am giving this a few more days then I cancel.
Thats how it began, timeouts while map changing. Then it went to not even being able to launch the game, I have played fine for 2 years so it isnt me, nothing has changed on my end.
Now I've had no problems what so ever playing STO this week, so there's nothing wrong with the Server. This implies you have some kind of issue with your Internet connection to STO...

transition to the trans-atlantic cable looks normal,
Now what about the 'Net Test' results... You posted the Trace Route test twice...
The problem is cascading then, seems more people are getting hit with it. I would accept the premise its me if I have had problems loggin in since Beta but this just started after last weeks patch. I played fine the day before, after the patch the nonsense began. How is it my fault?

In game I use the US proxy when I CAN get in, I just logged in for about a minute. Tried a map transfer and got booted out, so if it was me I wouldnt be able to log in at all ever. Every so often I can get in but dont get very far.
Come on Cryptic, what did you guys mess up? :frown:

Now I've been playing STO, (Just to make sure my merged PWE account is working...) and have no issues at all, so Cryptic hasn[t messed up anything....
Since your basic connection statistics are excellent, but you are still having stable connection issues, the next step is to contact your ISP and complain, as their the only ones that can correct your issue...
I suddenly started having disconnect issues tonight as well. I seem to have fixed them though.
I normally load the game via Steam, and that seems to have something to do with the problem: Steam has no way to let you open your games as an Administrator. So, I just made a shortcut directly to the launcher, set it to open STO in Admin mode, and now I can log in without any issues.
So, for the moment at least, I'm a happy - strike that, I'm a not-totally-p!$$ed-off camper.
The samething is happening to me too.. I get server not responding and then i get booted out.. I really don't understand what the heck is going on with this.
Even running it in Admin without Steam in between doesn't work. I still get booted when loading a map. I'm off to play some Starcraft now. Hope they fix it at some point.
Been playing since February and things were generally fine. But tonight when trying to login, STO either:
1. Fails to launch the launcher (I get the IE error 'This program cannot display the webpage" in the launcher itself or
2. it is disconnecting either at login (maybe 1/4 of the time it times out after I put in my password) or
3. If do get in, it disconnects when traveling between maps (seems to disconnect more often with my klink but I am never able to travel more than 1-2 maps before it disconnects.
I connected enough times (over the course of a couple hours) to refine my dilithium for the day and start a decent number of doff missions with my two chars, but as of right now I can't connect.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT? WHAT IS GOING ON?!?
Good thing I have enough unrefined dilith to last a week or so if this lasts...

Yeah my ISP is really going to know how to fix STO a game they know or care nothing about, get serious! And I got in last night and played flawlessly for 3 hrs so a game that sometimes works (rarely) and other times doesn't isn't a connection problem it's a game issue otherwise I couldn't log in at all ever!

Your ISP doesn't need to know how to fix STO, they need to know how to fix TCP/IP connection issues. Cryptic/PWE doesn't own the Internet and can't do anything to fix the network. And the fact that other people can get in and play flawlessly without issues shows that its not a STO issue... Network load/routing issues are connection issues, and only the ISP can correct them.
In the last few months there are known issues with connections being dropped due to the ISP/Internet Backbone vendors transitioning their network equipment for IPv6 (Next Generation Internet) support. If you want your network play to STO fixed, then you need to complain to your ISP to let them know that you have problems, as its the 'squeaky wheel' that gets the most attention...
Never had problems before.... EVER!
And no as of the last few days STO is unplayable.

If thats so, how did I play last night? Either they are rerouting resources or they arent, the problem should now be all the time and not sometimes. My other internet connections and games work fine, I imagine they use Internet resources and Ports too.
BTW: I didnt mean to be rude I know you are being helpful, I am just beyond annoyed. The fallback issue is always ISP, well maybe in this case its Cryptic, they could have a bad server or 2 that I have the bad luck of connecting to, other times I get pushed to a good one and log in. It could be a million things, and nothing has changed with my internet provider or service.

Have you ever thought that the issue may be network traffic load related? (Which would make the problems intermittent, which is what your seeing here...)
And you can't compare the performance of other games with STO, as STO is much more network intensive, and is much more likely to make these problems apparent

More network intensive than what? The guy never mentioned specific games, which could easily be other MMO's.

Lets not argue with one another here, although I appreciate the defense. I just want a dev to look at all this and say yay or nay, and so far I havent heard squat from them. Yes other online games work as they always have.
As of right now I just managed to log in again and am playing for now.......thats why i see it as something faulty with Cryptic as I stated before I was playing fine 4 days before the last update then all of a sudden the game broke.
Played for 6 hours without a problem, had to force close game when it finally stuck on a loading screen. Now I am back to Cannot Connect to Patch Server again, so the game plays when I am in it. I really dont think its ISP, Nettest showed all my ports are open and responding.
It's hit and miss for me as well, started up about the same time. Just played fine for a few hours, then major failure. The disconnect is usually followed by odd issues like 'Failed to Authenticate' and script errors in the launcher window.
It's hard to blame someone's net service when the problem affects multiple people across the globe and has additional symptoms. I've not had connection issues with anything else, myself, to boot.
I'm having bad connections issues now myself. I'm getting "Cannot connect to the patch server" errors and the like. When I finally get in, I get booted on map change. Sometimes I just randomly time out. Rather frustrating.

Read the instructions for the 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' diagnostics located in this thread...

And post the results here... Without this information its not even possible to make a educated guess on what the problem is...

Stop this Cryptic !
Have you tried using the 'Proxy' connection setting. This appears to get around or bypass some backbone issues (IPv6 transition problems?)
EU doesnt work !
US works so far (am from germany). Dont know about stability and timeouts yet !
