Heyo,

All in all the forums are lacking in certain area's but i am sure with the massive outburst they are going to do something about it. For a first day its doing alright, more features are coming.

However I dont want to support PWE or the company[which i guess in a way is now cryptic = PWE]
I also dont like the idea of being forced to buy Zen then spend Zen to make C-points. [Yes i know the business make money because thats what we like 'money' i still dont like it]

As for the website overall i dont like the "get free zen" SPAM advertizing no i am not going to sign up for netflix just to get some Zen... no i wont do the survey to get a few zen... no i wont ect ect ect ect. Do we really need a pop up as added "free" zen spam?

I really feel bad for cryptic I wish they didn't have to turn to PWE to be saved or for what ever reason they did this for.

As a complete footnote to this statement, -Its here, they did it, they wont change anything no matter how much you complain-

They should even throw in the usual "You've just qualified to win a new ipad, just do our survey."

If you don't complain, nothing will be done. Many of us want to return to a Cryptic based forum as a start. We will go from there. As far as PWE, they are doing a great job alienating Star Trek fans, and stirring up the hornet's nest.

Cryptic didn't turn to PWE, PWE bought them out. Atari were selling the studio and PWE happened to buy it and make the games free to play. Free to play games make money using the microtransaction system, otherwise known as cash shops.

As for the actual system of buying and transferring ZEN, it's the same for every game, including different conversion rates. $1 = 100 ZEN. 100 ZEN = 80 Cryptic Points. Same as 100 ZEN = 1 Jaden in Jade Dynasty or 100 ZEN = 1 Gold in Perfect World International. $1 used to be 80 Cryptic Points, therefore nothing has changed.

As for supporting PWE, you unfortunately have no choice in the matter if you want to buy things from the C-Store. Cryptic is now a wholly owned subsidiary. Cryptic is now PWE, so think of it as you're supporting the developers and keeping the game alive. The reality is, if no one supports STO, they'll shut it down. MMOs take a hell of a lot of money to run.

Ah alright, well its too bad Atari sold off Cryptic, did they have a chance to buy themselves from Atari? or did they not enough money?
I have no problem with the microtransaction part of STO I am partially supporting the DEVs with the money i spend to buy things in game, I just rather 100% of each dollar go to supporting the game and 0% go to PWE.

I will have to admit the overall dollar per cryptic point thing really hasnt changed[from what you have said here] and i am ok with that, I just rather send my money straight to cryptic and not have PWE skim off the top in the process. I am guessing their skim is small yes or atleast I hope it is.
I however know PWE wants its cut since they own STO now and thats just how it is going to be.

I did mention in my post that in some ways Cryptic = PWE.

Too bad there isnt any sort of "Donate to Cryptic" button around here with some promise that every dollar goes straight to the studio. It really doesnt matter though, buying Zen/Cryptic points is the same thing just with added in game bonuses.

i am a bit worried of a series/game that is a USA thing going into the hands of someone who -may- not even understand the fans or the show itself.
