TUMERBOY IS GOING TO LOSE HIS TACO!!!!

And JamJamz will lose his dingy...

BranFlakes has already lost his cereal box, therefore I would assume that all devs would be affected as well.....

Great Scott.... it's worse than I thought....

That could be a good thing...

Perhaps They'll fight to get custom avatars back for everybody.

Loosing custom avatars is what bugs me the most.

I don't see this changing though. I've taken a look around at the other games linked on the pwe and cryptic sites.

The Neverwinter forums have had the same treatment as STO with no custom avatars, archived posts from before the changes, and a few people protesting by using their old avatars in their sigs. I'm willing to bet they lost a lot of functionality also though I don't know for sure since I've never visited those forums before this.

Champions Online look like they haven't been touched yet. They seem the logical choice as the next target.

Looking around at their forum thread dates my guess is that their forum was changed around May 1st or so. That's been over a month ago and their dev tracker isn't working, custom avatars are bye bye and all their old posts are still archived.

It's obvious after looking at the Neverwinter forums that what we have here at STO is what we are going to have to put up with because they sure aren't going to change anything.

PW games can use their personal character portraits as avatars so its possible we may at least get that function. its better than nothing.

Wow, using these forums feels like downgrading from a car to a steam engine. No special characters in display names? No custom avatars? I guess the next thing they do is giving STO a new engine. With 8-bit graphics and two dimensions.

I agree, I think they should at least let us pick from one of our characters, as some of the other PW games do. The original site had character profiles (which I found by accident) that showed all of my characters mug shots.

    These profiles no longer exist at the address such as this;

    http://www.startrekonline.com/character_profiles/user_characters/sandukutupu

Which is really sad because it had all the biographies and anything you wanted to know.

It's going to be hard to distinguish who is posting because there aren't that many choices in avatars right now. Hopefully that changes soon.

To be honest the entire forum change is very poorly done, as far as I can tell they're still using the same forum software, vBulletin if I'm not mistaken. I have been running a vBulletin forum site myself since 2006 and never did I have an issue with changed joined dates and post counts. Yes it's different with the merged accounts for our long running cryptic players but still messing up post counts and join dates, something must've went wrong in the database.

And with a forum as active as this one, that's going to be very difficult. A lot of people get on every day!
