STO In-game Mail / Friends List

scottapricescottaprice Member Posts: 31 Arc User
I rely HEAVILY on the STO Mail and Friends list when I am out-of-game to send E-Mail and communicate with Fleetmates.

I think this "website maintenance" is SHOCKING , counterproductive :frown:, and unnecessary .

I am ALWAYS in favor of gaining new powers, but NEVER in favor of losing ANY powers...

Where can I now find the links to the STO Friends List and Webmail? These are imperative for use when one cannot be in the game to communicate with the player base and a "must have" for many of us especially since in-game E-Mail is limited to 2048 chars and many E-Mails need a little more space.

I have explored the new site, but have not been able to find those pages for mail and friends.

PLEASE CONSIDER THESE FUNCTIONS AS SACROSANCT AND BRING THEM BACK.

Exactly my only relevant problem with new forum. And the big one...

Well, I think I am EXTRA-screwed here because I took the plunge and linked my Cryptic Account to a PWE Account. :frown: My "Display Name" is different than my in-game display name because PWE doesn't allow periods, so the PWE Mail System has NOTHING to do with my in-game Mail System.

This is pretty serious for Fleet Leaders and others that communicate via E-Mail with many in the game on a regular basis. :frown:

If a DEV or Member of Mgt. sees this thread, PLEASE seriously consider restoring this access.

Could it be considered to build an Android Tablet and iPad App that allows one to check and send in-game mail, friends lists, possibly other stats ?

Now this is an outstanding idea... I am nowhere near tech-savy enough to do such a thing, but maybe someone out there is?

I gave up on that idea when they took away the ability for anyone to look up anyone's character using the Cryptic STO Website. That was a valuable tool for Fleet Leaders.

They been phasing those out for while. If you did not have link you could not find them. Seems there gone gone know.

well taking powers to acces the chars infos or the ingame mail access through the website is very contaproductive .. i mean i checked the mails before i logged into the game to sort-out the "item sold" mails. this must be done very manually by deleting mails 1-by-1 instead of the previous through the website accessible function "delete selected mails"

    its defenetly a deficit

I ran across another thread where it was stated by PWEbranflakes that they were aware of this difficulty for players and would be considering returning the in-game E-Mail to the web, but had no idea how hard that would be or how long that will take. I find this daunting.

All I can say is - log into the Champs site and use those resources until they can give them back to us on the STO Site. I PRAY they do not nerf or kill functionality completely there - before they can restore them to us on the STO Site.

Well, I'm "lucky" because when I became F2P, I linked accounts, so I have the same name; BUT when I tried send e-mail today it said: "The following users were not found: ".

How many friends has different names these days? It's mess...

No doubt this 'alignment' with the forums and website is just a small step that will eventually provide Core Connect features. Just give them some time to let them complete the process.

OK, I understand it may take time but... why they're not inform us before this type of change to let us prepare for issues...

    /signed...

PWE did a subpar job at transferring the forums. There are so many technologies available at their disposal, if they did their homework, to fully port a forum over to a new forum engine.

Ummm.. can I get a job at PWE for 1) to show them how to migrate one database to another and 2) to potentially get paid lots of money for doing subpar work.

Where do I fill out an application?

I AM NOT A FAN OF PWE!!!!

EdiT: wow http://www.champions-online.com/mail still works .. why they changed it for STO? .. were they forced to do so? if yes .. are they cowards? (and this isnt ment offending .. its just .. VEEERY STRANGE that they do things WITHOUT informing people about these changes but it is happened that people cant actually comletely use this what they could use before .. also the mail function)

    best regards and hopes

Edit2: well this CO wecsite mail access isnt available anymore too .. like this in sto .. how we have access through website then? .. this is a feature the provided us .. and didnt tell us to be removed

    THIS IS NOT FUNNY
