Can we get avians too...?

I just saw the concept art for Champions' Avian costume set. So FREAKING COOL.

If CBS isn't amenable to outright giving us the avians who frequently appeared in TAS... Would they at least go for some exotic costume/trait packs for custom aliens?

    Not really Trek?

You know there are other Avian species that shown in Star Trek, right?

Gliding alone would be a cool power. The tech exists for reduced gravity. Caitians have the innate ability to jump higher. It would likely just be a reduced fall speed but if they really outdid themselves, it could be a reduced fall speed or maybe a flight that caps out at around Caitian jump height, without the ability to jump while flying, kinda like the levitating ghost costume in Warcraft.

Didnt catians get stolen and put in trek (well not stolen but borrowed) from a sci fi author ? I beleive he also wrote about avians in 'Rama' so shouldnt be a stretch to borrow them too!

That would be good.... im not against them flying though.... I just said they didnt have to fly incase that would be an excuse for not adding them.... I would not make one myself but im sure people out there would love one of these.

You're thinking of the Kzinti, the evil cats in TAS.

And they weren't stolen (or borrowed), because both were created by Larry Niven.

According to the timeline on this very website, the USS Voyager encountered an avian species by the name of the Lorians in 2402. If they're going to ever add an avian species to this game, why not them?

It's too bad I can't *give* the species I've made to Cryptic, I've worked out a lot on them. ...Do I really have to sell my ideas to them? I'm mentioning this while quoting you because one of the three species I've come up with is vulpine.

I'm good with having Avians in the game :) They were in TAS, and also written into the novel "The Final Reflection" as a race that the Klingons had conquered prior to the TOS era.

From a purely Trek point of view: We know that species exist in trek that can fly (Xindi Avians, and that species mentioned in DS9 that had wings), so its not purely out of question.

But from a Game-technical standpoint, I dont think it is a good idea. If people have wings, then the next step is to let them fly... I dislike that idea, from a balance point of view, and from a technical standpoint.

    Holy non humanoid alien Batman!

    STO needs more alien Aliens!
The federation should not be an homo sapiens club. (And i bet some in the empire would want such aliens too)
