New-ish to STO

Hey guys, I finally decided to post here after finally subbing late last week. As you can see from my sig, I have been very busy in game, having already made it to Lieutenant Commander 3 by now, as well as having joined a fleet a day after I subbed (I already had planned on joining this one due to the friends that got me into STO being in it).

Its all pretty weird that I've been able to level up so quickly, as in my past MMORPGs that I've played (SWG mainly, with a few short stints of WoW on the side), I've leveled very slowly (It took me over 2 years to hit max level on one character in SWG). I guess that's because I've found that STO is definitely not lacking in content, and is so abundant in missions that I still have missions as low as Lieutenant 3 or 4 I have taken but not attempted yet.

I'm definitely enjoying this game, and seriously considering un-subbing from SWG so I can afford more time here. I might even save a bit of money seeing how I likely can afford to do the extended time period subscriptions (but still not lifetime) that way.

    hi and welcome

sto is a more casual mmo than some others so you might find leveling quicker but just play at what ever pace you like.

one of the things i enjoy doing is rolling alts as there are tons of different ships to fly.

    have fun.

p.s ill get in on those cupcakes.

That's what I'm liking about this game: the "Episode" system is rather novel to me, and there's stuff to do no matter what you like. Me, I don't really care about the MMO concept, since I like playing online with people I know, but this game allow me to have fun even when I'm "lonewolfing", while still being able to experience other gameplay aspects (like PvP) if I feel like it.
I'm also one of those players that like what Cryptic did with the Star Trek IP, so that helps too. :D
And, finally, there isn't as much grind as in other MMOs out there. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome all. I didn't bring cupcakes, but I can go get some pie if you like. :p

Anyways, yeah, I definitely see a lot of potential in a game like this that doesn't force you to do every single mission they give you in order to advance. I really like that, as it makes the game more unique and not as boring, plus it gives you replay value when you go do those leftover missions after hitting VA or whatever level you decide to do them at (and level scaling makes it still a bit of a challenge).
