Cloaked Intentions

So Series 3 for the Featured Episodes, "Cloaked Intentions," is apparently going to involve the Romulans and possibly take place somewhere in Romulan space. I think this will be interesting, though unless Cryptic is opening up Romulan space to the Klingons, it'd be a little difficult for Klingon players to play at the present time.

My best guess for the setting of this series is the Psi Velorum Sector Block, as it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to allow Klingons access to that block from either Omega Leonis or Pi Canis, just as Orellius is accessible from Eta Eridani - unless they're opening up Regulus(Map).

If this is being discussed elsewhere already, I apologize, but I didn't see a thread when I did a search.

Do we really know it will involve the Romulans? It will probably include the Romulans, but many other groups have been hinted at to be involved in the issues the Romulans have been having. Including, but mot limited to the Undine, Hirogen, and Remans.

they have updated the romulan group so there will be romulans. that's not to say others might not get involved but i guarantee there will be some romulans to smack around.

There's a lot of cool possibilities for this next featured series. The Psi Velorum sector block is home to Rator III, which is the new Romulan homeworld (perhaps more mentions, since an actual appearance is unlikely, of Empress Sela?).

Additionally, Captain Sulu's ship the U.S.S. Poseidon is on maneuvers near the Romulan Neutral Zone.

A big mystery that they haven't expanded on is the events in 2396 (see Path to 2409, the book, or the loading screen):
And on Stardate 73963.51, Captain T'Vix of the U.S.S. Cochrane is removed from duty, along with her first officer and chief of security. The Cochrane was assigned to monitor the Neutral Zone, but is recalled to Earth Spacedock days later for personnel reassignment, and the remaining crew is dispersed among more than a dozen other posts. Starfleet gives no reason for the orders, and all records of what happened on the final days of the Cochrane's missions are sealed by Starfleet Intelligence.
It is believed that the Cochrane will return to duty after a refit with a new crew, but one anonymous report states that the ship has been sent to a SI starbase for analysis.

There's the Iconians who were working behind the scenes with former Praetor Taris and were instrumental in the Hobus supernova (mission "Taris"). Not to mention the assimilated Borg technology (the first episode of the series is "The Vault," which is the secret base where Nero got the Narada enhanced in the last Star Trek film).

It seems that 'The Vault" has now been pushed back to Feb. 5 instead of Jan 29, perhaps to iron out any issues the devs found with the series. S'all good to me.

How much you wanna bet its another Shinzon clone laying around that caused all this.

Or somehow Nero, like somehow there is an excuse made for why it can happen. DONT TELL ME IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Or at the heart of all of this is Nelix. My money is on Nelix.

Since STO is being rather loose with game canon, I'd love to see other groups from the Starfleet Universe like the Interstellar Concordium, the Lyran Star Empire, the Kzinti Hedgemony or the Hydran Kingdoms. They have the unique advantage that their histories have already been established, including their individual relationships with the Federation and Klingon Empire. They've already taken the first step with the Gorns.

The Kzinti are probably not going to make it to the game. They were planned at one point, but apparently CBS Studios (the guys who currently own the Star Trek TV franchise) are concerned that the Kzinti are "a little too tied into Larry Niven's "Known Universe" series" (which is where the Kzinti originated).

Well then they could just do what Taldren did in Starfleet Command vol. II and call them the Mirak Star League. In any case, Paramount needs to remember that the Kzinti are more canon than the Lyrans, Hydrans or ISC because unlike those three, the Kzin actually APPEARED in an episode of ST:TAS. Hell, they were even going to have Kzin in season 5 of Enterprise before it was cancelled. (Damn them, I've been without Star Trek for 6 years now after over a decade of Star Trek. Thank god for V!) I know that the Kzin are Larry Niven's creation and I've read the Man-Kzin Wars series but it hasn't stopped them from popping up in novels, shows and other Star Trek Media. For Paramount to ignore them would be as ignorant as the days when Paramount refused to acknowledge Robert April as the first Commander of NCC-1701 because he had never appeared in a live-action show or movie. We all know how that ended up. Whether Paramount likes it or not, the Star Trek universe isn't completely theirs anymore because of video games and novelizations. There was even a time when they rejected the words "Rihannsu" and "Havransu". When will they just give up and accept that they are no longer the sole creators of Star Trek. They already renamed the Romulan Norexan-class battlecruiser to "Mogai" (Which sounds Klingon, not Romulan). What's next, they're going to rename the Akira-class because it was never officially called that on a show or in a movie? Anyway, this is off-topic I think, I should just make a thread for it.

Not so fast. There is the Reman split with the Romulans; which means the next few episodes could have us involved in a conflict between the Romulans and Reman forces.
