This is the problem I'm having with stacks of items. There is no easy, efficient way to split them. For example, if you have a stack of 100 Mineral Samples and want to put fifty of them in your fleet bank, you can't unless you find someone you trust to help split the stack, or are willing to make a few runs back and forth between the bank and the exchange. In my opinion, this is madness. It is one of very few frustrating things I've found in STO and am actually stunned that it hasn't been changed yet. Am I the only one who feels this way? Does no one else wish they move smaller stacks of materials around? I'd save a lot of boring back and forth so people can spend more time getting to the parts of the game they enjoy.
They don't have to be in the inventory to use them for Research. They stack in bank at 99 each stack, and can be used right out of the bank. No Double Handling is necessary.
If you want to post for sale on Exchange, then you can just set the ammount on the Post Screen.
The only real reason I could see for putting them in Inventory would be to give them to another player.

That is an Auto Count thing.
I've been playing since closed beta and I literally just discovered the ctrl thing like two weeks ago, so don't feel bad
They now stack in stacks of 250.
