Fleet Admiral would be the highest obtainable rank for Feds unless they added in the Starfleet C.I.C. position. I don't think that would happen though. For me, I'll be happy when they do add in the Admiral and Fleet Admiral ranks. Sure, once you max out, you max out. But it'd be fun working towards those ranks.
They probably go no where after that. Fleet Admiral will start at 61 and could run to 70. 70 is enough levels in the game, IMO.
Maybe, but still, it's only taken me a week to go from RA(LH) 1 to VA, if this is the sort levelling progression that STO is going to have then I can't see it having much of a future. Of course they have the option of adding in original content, but this will obviously gain the wrath of the most dedicated trekkies. I have always been a Star Trek fan (except ENT) and would love to see the game stay as canon as possible, but I really don't see the room for future development past Fleet Admiral (unless the devs have been reading Memory-Beta which uses different rank emblem (only on the WoK uniform) and create the CinC Starfleet rank).
Believe me, I'm an avid MMO player also having current subs to EvE and WoW but I would love to see STO become the foremost MMO.
Lastly, a plea to the devs; please don't go too far with adding original content, Grand Admiral as a rank I think would be do-able, but anything beyond that may be bordering on rediculous!

I agree, and look forward to modifying my uniform to show those fourth and fifth pips, but being a Star Trek and military geek, this is the small kind of thing that worries me!

It took me almost a 1 week to go from 81-85 in WoW's new Cataclysm expansion. I guess that game does not have much of a future either.
What STO needs is viable end game content not more level expansions. There is nothing going past Fleet Admiral can do for the game that good end game content without level advancement cannot also do.

I don't see that anything like Grand Admiral would ever be put in-game as that is a Star Wars rank and not a Star Trek rank. The only other rank I believe could be conceivably added would be Commodore.;)

I think the main difference between WoW and STO progression is that WoW uses numerical levels, it can go as far as they want, where as STO uses both that and ranks, although thinking about it there could potentially be an endless number of levels within the Fleet Admiral rank.

An unfortunate fact for me being a brit is that STO and Star Trek as a whole uses the American ranking system, where Cdre is only a position for senior Capts, and RA(LH) replaced the rank.

As an American, I have to admit that I think the whole Rear Admiral Lower Half and Upper Half sounds dumb. It should be Rear Admiral period...no lower, no upper.

Lol, they changed it a few decades ago cause the Cdres were complaining about not being 'Flag Ranks', but back to the STO subject, I think that the revs are intelligent enough to realise that they'll need to find some way to keep the game going past Fleet Admiral, whether it be levels of FA or tons of endgame content, let's face facts, they need something other than Borg and 8472, and they have a massive pool of canon history to play with!

I agree. I think the ticket here will be more end-game content. On a good note, I gather that the Tholians are being worked on and I also believe that at some point we'll end up dealing with the Iconians as well.
There is certainly alot of Trek lore that can be looked at that could be added into the game.

The Fleetless Wonder!

I'd rather see the system completely redesigned. With a focus on Being Captain - and perhaps declining a promotion in order to stay on your bridge!
