We need the voice talents of Patrick Stewart in STO. Call him up Cryptic!!! WHO'S WITH ME!!! We could put our pennies together to entice Mr Stewart to pay attention to our cause.
Although I agree, someone broke into my house in the middle of the night while I was on vacation, I don't have any spare cash to help the cause:(, but I'm sure that if we make this thread 100 pages long Cryptic has got to get him in, whether or not they have proper funding will be irrelevant.:D
As much as i like the idea of Getting Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks and other prominet ST Actors to do voice-over work for the game, i doubt that would help the game any. Just swallow a bunch of money that could be better used to finish getting the game into a state where they could actually develop it and not just spend time rebuilding all the core systems like they've sepnt the time since launch.
Besides, for the cost of hiring him to do Voice-work, you could feed a couple of small African nations for a week...which is probably a better use of the money.
Spamming new threads, but I'd have to look it up (while keeping my figures crossed).
Have you tried 10-forward? I hear they love this stuff there.
As a realistic side note, say we do get a cryptic fund for VO's, What happens if enough is not raised?
See, realistically it doesn't work, as a joke, just not funny. At the very least the avatar works for that concept.
After reading your posts throughout various threads...Im starting to question your concept of what is actually funny, to you I mean......Thats ok, a good sense of humor takes time......:D
I'm unsure why people think this idea would be a joke. I think adding any VO work from Star Trek characters is a good thing. Not to mention Patrick Stewart's narration voice is probably the best in the universe outside of Morgan Freeman.

VO work is expensive. The 50k they would pay Sir Patrick for 1 day's work in the studio could also be used to hire 1-2 new people who do nothing but make content for this game 40 hours a week for a year. Would you rather have 20 new episodes in the game or a 1 minute speech from Sir Patrick every time you go into a new sector?
If Cryptic were like Blizzard and making a billion dollars a year, sure, I'd love to have Sir Patrick, as well as the rest of the crew from TNG, VOY, and DS9. But Cryptic isn't Blizzard and VOs won't add new players to the game. More content, especially end-game content, will.
Anything else against the rules we should know about?
Well... you could try actually reading the rules. You know, just saying.
While I think that Patrick Stewart is a great actor, I don't think that adding sound bites from him would in any way improve the game. Even if doing so cost Cryptic absolutely nothing, which it most certainly won't, I'd still be against it.
In my opinion the STO dev team needs to concentrate on adding more content, fixing bugs, adding more content, improving the GUI and adding more content. In that order.
I would love to have Sir Patrick of Stewart lend his voice to the game! Within reason, of course. If it's going to put us all in the poor house, then I would say no. Whichever way I get the biggest bang for my buck.
Anyone who says they weren't at least a little excited when they heard Bonnie-kin in the last series is probably a liar. Having voice overs in this game does indeed add to it imo, and Sir Patrick has a great and distinctive voice. I don't get the whole either/or of this whole discussion. Like spending money on getting some voice over work by Sir Patrick or Tim Russ means they are laying off Devs or something. These guys have done voice over work for multiple star trek games so they can't cost that much.
Tho i don't understand OP why you have two threads dealing with this self-same topic. I'm as big a fan of Conan O'brien as any, but that's just uncalled for.

More voice overs YES, I too like how it adds to the game especially in missions. only lets be realistic here, these are actors that no longer have contracts with the show or movies for obvious reasons. To afford the actor simply isn't enough as most of these seasoned guys belong to unions and such.
And sorry to say to actually get the real deal will cost a pretty penny due to the success of their careers.
Unless they do Pro Bono work in which case i say go nutts!

THAT'S THE SPIRIT!!! It's a well known fact that Jean Luc Picard loves the scent of Lemon Pledge.

Captain Picard loll
Don't get me wrong, I like the guy...but he's done VO work for almost every TNG trek game I can think of that has voice work.
With the upcoming...whatever...happening to the E, I think Brent Spiner would be more appropriate right now than anyone else.
Then again, I also think VO work isn't and shouldn't be a priority right now.

Meh, probably wouldn't work...but it is just the char we're talking about right?......

That is a very true statement

On a side note, how is this thread still not locked? It says petition in the title even! Moderators must still be on a holiday....
