O and your late :P
Great stuff on the Foundry and I hope they end up devoting a segment to Foundry reviews each week so that more great missions get the attention they deserve. I plan to play the best reviewed missions first but I don't want to miss other great stuff just because the same 10 missions might stay at the top of the list. I think they should also keep a list on their site of all the missions they recommend over time so that people have a great one-stop place to find a bunch of quality missions. One of the bigger problems I foresee with the Foundry is how to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Oh, and thanks to Jeremy for volunteering to script doctor some missions that might be really great but need spellcheck and some improvement in the story. I hope that decision doesn't come to bite you really hard in the butt J-man.
Keep up the good work guys.
I'm still hoping that someone will get Bryan to re-up his subscription, try STO again, and then come on STOked again to do a re-review.
Would you enjoy it even it was a 10-minute vitriole-laced rant? Bryan is not an MMO fan in general, and quickly lost interest in STO after release. I'm pretty sure his review would not be kind.
what about if you held him at gun point ?
I don't want his review to be kind, I want it to be stingingly honest. Mostly because I know that most of the STO devs watch STOked. If all we ever hear is how great we are then what motivation do we have to work hard, change and improve? Criticism of our work helps us to improve it.
Besides, if it was a one-time, ten-minute long thing, I'm sure it'd be very entertaining.
I'd rather Bryan focus on Beer is Tasty and LAS.
He's awesome in those ones.
I'll ask him and see what he thinks, thanks for the feedback folks!
-Chris
I'd probably wait until after Season 4 when the ground combat is re-worked.
I wouldn't worry too much. I'm pretty sure that Cryptic has no shortage of Criticisms or suggestions (or demands for that matter) on how to make improvements to the game.
I agree though that id's like to see Bryan do at least one more episode, if only to do a re-review of STO. He might not enjoy it greatly still, but i am sure that he will note its improvement and give some good feedback on how to make it even better.
Film it right after Beer is Tasty for drunken feedback.
You guys are down in, what, Arlington? I could deliver the beer myself.
Been watching these guys since Beta, keep up the good work and THANKS!!
Hope next episode, we hear more on the ship design contest.
They do a great job of being constructive, however... not at all like me... whe tends to rant and rant and rant to get the stress out so I can spend another week in STO.
The live records they do on saturdays are pretty fun. Check one out if you get the chance...
On a personal note, I was very intrigued with Jeremy's offer to go over Foundry-scripts... are you seriously going to try that, Jeremy?:o
And btw when you have like dstahl on the show how about asking him , why cant the dev team make a few more PvP maps with objectives like salvage.Because people are sick and tired on only have 1 PvP map in the game.(no the arena maps in my mind have nothing to do with PvP STAR TREK PvP.)
True indeed. I find their criticisms of STO/Cryptic to be on point as well as constructive.
Good episode and enjoyed the fan trailer! I imagine you'll get inundated with requests to make more from other foundry scribes now.
I do have to call Shenanigans on you guys though, re: the Garumba part.
You said that you are "not seeing" the ships being available in game as well as on the Store. You said they did it for the VA Defiant, Galaxy, Interpid, and then no more.
And well that isn't true.
C-Store ships:
TOS Connie: Pre-order bonus
A Bunch of alternate Fed RA costumes/pieces - C-Store only
Galaxy X - Referral Program
RA Excelsior (only lower level avail in game)
RA nebula (Available in game)
Klingon Vor'cha refit (available in game)
Klingon Vorcha skin (C-Store only)
Kar'fi Carrier - Available for token
Klingon B'Rel for lvl 51 - Available for token, extra token given
Gorn ship for lvl 51 - Available for token, extra token given
Orion Ship for lvl 51 - Available for token, extra token given
NX-01 - Starter ship - C-Store only
So between the Galaxy X and the Garumba, only 2 ships and those ship skins are C-Store only. The Excelsior was BEFORE they decided to strive to make them available in game (and was probably the catalyst for the effort to begin with) The Nx-01 would be hard to have as an unlock for newbies because... you're in that rank for like a day. And the costume is a costume, and all of those are C-Store things.
So I think REALLY only the Excelsior and now the Garumba are "breaking" that rule. And since Stormshade is working on getting the Garumba into the referral program, and adding an alternative for the Excelsior AFTER lots of people bought it would be.... dishonest... I don't think you guys had much of a point there.
He writes songs for the local band that he also sings with.
He writes articles for Ten Ton Hammer.
At no point did I see him claiming to be Shakespeare reincarnated. He was simply offering to help people with their script IF they want said help.
Realizing that he may be a better writer than some people and offering to help. Yeah, that's really a show of ego alright. Gimme a break.
Oh, that reminds me. Did you see the episode of Jupiter At Night where Jeremy opened the Christmas present that had been sent to him by his fans?
What did your fans get you for Christmas?
Yep.
So far I've only gotten a handful of submissions, and should be able to go over them this Friday. If I start getting too many, I'll shut the flood gates. But for now, the offer stands.
I'm now an Inter-webs famous crafter! Thanks for the mention guys that was nice of ya.
By the way if anyone in the community reading this needs Aegis sets crafted all they need to do is send me mats in game and I'll craft them as a community service and mail them back in approx 24 hours...I just enjoy crafting
I kinda took that to mean something such as The Advanced Heavy at RA (Refit Excelsior) isn't available for in-game currency only it's lesser Commander version is available in game, unlike the VA ships and the Nebula both of which have purchasing options.
I'm kinda surprised that the Excelsior refit wasn't switched over to the same style as the Nebula perhaps with a higher in-game cost....
Though the TOS Connie is in the store it's also a pre-order bonus. You still can't acquire that in-game through gameplay though...
Everything else you mentioned was a skin or VA ship
but one thing i noticed, from the brief Iconian tidbits: "They're dark, mysterious, unknowable... and their technology is far beyond what even the Borg and the Undine have"...
i don't know if this is true or not, or if it will show up in-game, but if it is... wow. just... wow
