Proposed Item; Anti-Assimilation Armor

So I was listening to a team-mate talk about an STF run and it hit me;

With all its advanced technology why has Starfleet never made a specific set of anti-assimilation armor for its personnel?

It could be a reward for one of the final Borg/Undine front missions.

It would have below-average protection in many areas, but in exchange would get huge [plasma] [physical] and [nanites] resist.

The idea being that any Borg assimilation effects attacks or powers are vastly down-graded when wearing this armor as are their physical attacks.

The [plasma] resist would help with their energy weapons.

Thoughts?

The Borg would probably adapt and turn them into Auto assimilation armors.

Besides. WE can't be assimilated in game. Kinda takes the bite out of fighting the borg in fact. There one main boogeyman moment was assimilating your friends and family and turning them against you. Right now we are just fighting the zombie horde.

why dont we just give the borg waterguns. nerf all and any skills they have. and let them rid my litttle ponies instead of using cubes spheres etc.

    That would be a buff.

Well one would think that will personal shields that would be the first line of defense against assimilation tubules, but I suppose they work on the slow blade principle. ;) That said it would also seem to be the case that if you were able to encase your troops in a full suit of 'armor' that you would at bare minimum be highly resistant to Borg (since all on screen assimilation seem to require access to the victims skin)

Considering how the Borg love to latch into people's necks, you'd think that leathernecks would make a comeback, no?

You would think that, heck I still marvel at the range they fire those tubules at. Most TV/movie instances I can think of require you to be in knife fighting range. 25th century Borg are practically snipers with those things now.

    Ahem:
Assimilation tubules were a pair of flexible needle-like devices that extended from the wrists or fingers of Borg drones. These tubules initiated the assimilation process by injecting Borg nanoprobes into a victim's bloodstream, and were capable of penetrating any armor or energy shielding known to the Federation. Assimilation tubules also allowed drones to interface with technology.

Yeah, that was a while ago but you'd think someone would've been working in R&D and said "Hey, you know that thing enslaving the universe? I found something that goes on your neck to stop it." :)

Exactly. The Borg are all about adaptation, so story-wise there could never be anything that was permanently "borg proof".

    Towards a New Cold War...

Too bad there is a virus written to eliminate the entire group. I mean, it's not technically genocide, right?

Except in Scorpion where it was said that they can't adapt to things they can't assimilate. That's why 8472 was beating them so badly. Yeah it's stupid, but it's canon.

Oh, its not dumb. But the thing is, if they assimilate a species that can beat 8472, then suddenly they can too. So even if they cant assimilate them, they can still kill them.

maybe if it just stopped the first few from making it though. kinda like in the show were the crew could shoot them for a bit before they adapted to the guns. give it a 2-4 minute cool down or maybe just have it reset at the start of the mission and it can stop maybe 3-4 attempts at penetration by borg.

after that you get a mini game of packman but in reverse packman is the borg and your the ghost (starfleet nanites) trying to get him before he gobbles up all of your balls.

Considering that 99.9% of human males only have Two...that's gonna be a really short mini-game.
