I just want to be able to place my officers throughout my ship get some shield recharge and hull buffs for my Engineering crews outstanding efforts
I just want great sensor, tractor beam, Shield heals/ armor and Super heals for my Science/ Medical
For my tactical I want some hard hitting buffs/ Torpedo volleys and great maneuvering buffs
I want to be able to give each a title and have 1 amazing space/ 1 ground skill for each officer in the leadership position. I want to be able to designate titles custom and canon for up to 25-30 of my crew, I want them all to be bridge officers ( meaning I can rotate them on missions )
I'm not even asking for a lousy game manual anymore--people here have posted great links to manualesqe
pages giving the rules Cryptic should have. Just give me my TOS bridge for my TOS ship.
The officer posts should be taken seriously by Cryptic, but for me and my house, we want that damn bridge.
What I really want right now is the ability to save crew assignments, and the placements of those abilities on the tray... it is getting annoying contantly swapping out officers (due to PVE vs PVP vs healer vs whatever), then redragging abilities to the tray in the correct position. Savings and switching functionality similarto the power settings managements would be amazing.
You want buffs most want placement. I would suggest the title be "My Idea to over thinking BOF placement"
You have nothing to deal with their ideas. it's all yours and seen in dozens of threads.
if you read my first sentence it is about placement? If you read dstahl comments on the crew system I was not wanting something as complicated as he was describing and suggested alternatives

no you wanted buffs for placement. I can see that. I can also see where you don't know balance His ideas are the same as yours, whats complected about this idea?. It will end up being like the current borg/ageis sets bonus wise. If not what's the point?
I still don't see what your first sentence has to do with anything. It's all that we've seen before.

personally i want it as complex as they can make it (whilst still easy to use) to increase customization.
although i really did not think it sounded that complex to begin with.
Crew resource management is an incredibly complex subject (yes it's a real discipline) and providing us with some simplistic equivalent would just lead to complications further down the line.
From what I've read of Dsthal's proposals so far it's at the low end of complexity already and I don;t honestly believe making any simpler would help either the players or the game.

It sounded fairly complex to me. In his interview he said you could assign on a duty roster anywhere from 20 to 100 crew, with various skills and abilities. and place them in such a way as to not necessarily just provide buffs, but rather unlock new types of gear through research and crafting as well. He had a lot more to say about it but i was pretty impressed with what he proposed. It would, in effect, make each starship virtually unique in precise makeup/ compostition.
I say mkae the game more complex...it's star trek, and were flying a big sexy spaceship. I would love to spend time tweaking and setting up crew memebers in areas and having it affect my ship so it allows for multiple unique builds would be great.
I would also hope that when I am aboard my ship, I get to see those crew in the places they were put, working away.
We need going on our own ship to have purpose, like affecting repairs from advanced difficulty etc, preferably in some cool thomasthecat ish minigame .
We also need it to eventually tie into exploration so that new aliens can visit our ship and all that, or anomalies can create havoc aboard the ship and we have to go about inside fixing things.
hopefully the ucg will eventually get the ability to be used for interiors andplayers can then recreate that episode of tng when everyone de-evolves.

The sum total of what we know Cryptic is thinking about is:
A: they want to do something more with crew
B: They are holding off on adding more races for BO's until they do something wiht the First Officer system
C: they want to let us asign crew to actual positions such as Chief Engineer or Chief Medical Officer..

How is this overthinking?
In the interview Dstahl said they are in discussions and all i want is what i stated in the OP without complicating the crew system beyond that. My suggestion is not to complicate or over think the crew system.
I'm really excited to see how this crew system will work and the day it's implemented to the games mechanics.
But if there is anything I would like to know as soon as possible is will we be able to assign are current Bridge Officers to these new posts, and will we still be able to customize them like what we can do now.
I ask if I can transfer Bridge Officers because the Officers that i have now are the finest crew i could ask for. some of them have been with me since the beginning and all have faced the dangers that this game has frown at us, I could not bring myself to lose any of them (for the record I know they arent real, but still).
And I ask if the customizability will remain the same because there is an Officer I have wanted since I started playing STO, a Caitian Female called Kate Smith, and I'm hoping I can still customize the Officer to how I've pictured her looking.
Those are the only questions I have that I'm hoping Cryptic can answer.

This is a good idea. What Dstahl statement on crew?
Been gone for holidays.

This sound cool if it can work.
What interview?
I believe he refers to this interview : http://www.trekradio.net/on-demand (*Daniel Stahl on Trek Radio (Dec 22nd 2010))
Don't forget to turn off your speakers before hitting the page.
