VA skill points...Why?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Ok...i might have missed the memo on this...but why do we have VA dailies with "skill points" that we do not need and NO emblems which we do need...im a little confused on this.

Somebody please straighten me out this...

Thx in advance

it does seem silly at the moment but at some point the level cap will be raised and those skill points will then be useful.

at the moment its probably just a coding thing and its just awkward to remove the skill points at max level without altering some of the set up.

what dailies dont have emblems though? i though they all did at VA?

Skill points at max level are automatically converted to bridge officer skill points.

The only ones I know of are the Deferi side missions (Ore Delivery for Outpost 3 and Perimeter Satellite repair), though they are not strickly VA missions.

Another thing of note, if you toke a daily before becoming VA, but not finishing it before VA the mission gives no emblem reward since it was not part of the mission when you toke it.

Example: You are RAUH 6 and take the deferi daily, then do some other stuff inclduing getting promoted to VA, then you finish the daily. -> No emblems for it.

You also get BOFF skill points and Starfleet Merits - which generally are higher on the non-emblem VA missions.

These are missions you grind for the necessary components of a complete respec (30k Starfleeet merits). :)

Just checked again..they are just VA missions not dailys...2 for Mackenzie Calhoun and 1 for Makza...sooo they must be setting them up for when we get more levels...tha makes sense then without the emblems..

    Thx for the response

I guess my question is: Why does it matter? If you can play engaging stories that make you feel immersed in the Star Trek universe, then why complain about more and more needed shinies? Why does the goal of an mmo have to be about stuff, and not about a meaningful and rewarding experience?

I'd rather feel like I'm a captain of a starship in the Star Trek universe than a spacebar masher seeking some type of purple goodie that has a 1% effect on how long it takes me to kill civilians.

The problem is that Cryptic doesn't deliver this. They are still thinking with their minds in mmo land. They try to disguise the repitition, somehow thinking that Star Trek fans will love a repetitive dungeon of going nowhere beyond ego and stats.

UGC is the new end game content, if you can be satisfied with an engaging story, rather than some dumb shiny that really does no difference in the end. I'll log on to play Star Trek Online, not a chore fest of getting the next dumb shiny.
